I dealt with this by setting up an alert that would read the contents of the inserter. Set the inserter to "Read hand contents" and "Hold". I also set the Stack Size on the inserter to 1 and the Spoiled Priority to Fresh First to minimize the likelihood of this situation occurring in the first place ...
