I actually rarely use steel chests. Iron chest is 5x cheaper and has a capacity of 3/4 of steel chest.
As a train station buffer - 6 iron chests store 9600 ore while cargo wagon can only hold 2000. Why do you need larger buffer there?

Yes, please! My wife doesn't want to play factorio, because it's 'too futuristic' or some other nonsense. She only plays 'medieval' themed games... so Settlerio would be awesome!mrvn wrote:...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
My proposal of nerfing the bots:
Make roboport larger (4x6 or maybe even 6x6)
Make roboport bot storage lower (2 stacks instead of 6)
Make bot cargo space research require space science
Make bot recharge rate slower at start, but with infinite research option

As for buffing belts - like it was ...

Re: Constant reactor fuel usage invites heat capacity cheating
Wait... are you talking about pulse loading when storage drops below a certain level? Since reactors and steam tanks react slowly, that'd require a timed delay. How do you control it?

Re: 0.15 Reactor Ratio
I have trouble with math here. I came up with ratio of 1 pump : 20 boilers : 2 reactors (or rather one with 100% bonus) : 12 heat exchangers : 20 steam turbines.
Math behind this: 1 pump extracts 1200 water/s which lines perfectly with 20 boilers since each uses 60 water. They produce 36 MW of ...

Re: Constant reactor fuel usage invites heat capacity cheating
I am actually liking this new mechanic a lot. The euforia I got when I first figured out the correct way to inout fuel into reactor was awesome. I am using wire to tank and when volume is lower than 1k then inserter would insert one piece of fuel into reactor. It's pretty easy to setup actually.

You're running on a laptop are you ? That Quadcore and GTX are actually the M versions ?
I guessed it from the G-card Vram size. I have essentially the same setup but on a desktop (with the full 4Gb Vram & 16Gb ram) and no frame drop - certainly not this high...

Re: Accumulators are too cheap
when you're using steam and lasers, you need accumulators so that lasers don't kill your factory.
you can use hot water tanks as accumulators
boilers - steam engines - water tank - steam engines
When the load is low, you "charge" the water tank, when the load rises, you have double capacity for ...

If anything, those FF are AGAINST slavery. And while you can differentiate between kinds of slavery, what EU is heading to is technically a slavery (different kind than oppresion of african-american minority in US, but slavery nevertheless).

Simple GUI that would allow setting personal roboport active only outside external logistics network? I don't really see usefulnes of personal roboport inside big logistics network, but deactivating manually is too much hassle

Instead of going to all the trouble of actually measuring the distance over which electrical power is transmitted, you could simply give each Power Pole a drain. I suggest the same drain for all Power Poles, regardless of size, thus simulating that Big Power Poles are more efficient at long ...

Re: Inserter Stretch Retract Timing.
Yes, please yes. Trains are badly hurt by that.
On the other hand only thing that is really needed is that inserters wouldn't have to reach into the middle of a wagon, just straight up/down.

Indicator of object being delivered
When you place object inside construction area and construction is on the way it should say so (optimally with ETA) in the side info when you hover over said object.
Also we need some indication that object is delivered through logistics system (requested by character logistic slot)

I can translate it literally but it sounds bad and also the word for insert is not used ...

Almost 10% of the update time is spent on "Smoke", a graphical effect that has no practical purpose, other than to look good.
Yeah, that does sound like a bit of a waste of processing power when compared to the fact that the other 90% has a practical purpose.

How about liquid doesn't get destroyed if something with higher pressure is introduced into the pipe (it doesn't make sense anyway)
