Re: Air resistance... in space?

Honestly, the drag would actually be pretty agreeable if not for how disproportionately efficient long skinny tube ships were. While I can understand needing to have some gameplay restraints to prevent speed races from becoming a case of who can tile the most thrusters on, the imbalance of what ...

Re: Artillery needs to be moved back to Nauvis

Currently on a deathworld marathon 600%/600% game on space age. I just abandoned nauvis and flew to Vulcanus. Artillery, actually, was not the driving factor anyways, it was the huge health pools of the spawners and a bit of a bad map for long term expansion. There's also the fact that you don't ...

Re: Friday Facts #374 - Smarter robots

I would like to see the Closest First mod built into the game.

I would also like to see something of the sort. However I don't want to completely ignore the preexisting hierarchy of chest importance (active provider > storage > buffer > passive) a simple fix would probably be to simply add a ...

Re: Friday Facts #374 - Smarter robots

I haven't played in a while, so maybe this has already be fixed, but what QoL always bothered me was how inefficient robots were at moving stuff around.

When you cut / paste something, it seems like the tasks being made are:
- Pick stuff up from position 1, and bring it to roboport
- Pick stuff ...

Re: Large logistic networks in 2.0

The behavior of storage chests is working against you here. From the wiki https://wiki.factorio.com/Storage_chest

Logistic robots will pick up items in the following priority: active provider chests > storage chests, buffer chests > passive provider chests

Logistic robots, and construction ...

Re: Artillery needs to be moved back to Nauvis

I made a mod!
It fixes the issue mentioned in this discussion (it also moves back cliff explosives, but that can be turned off if unwanted)

I'm afk now or I'd investigate further directly, but when you say moves artillery back to nauvis do you mean that the crafting recipes no longer ...

Re: Artillery needs to be moved back to Nauvis

I get the impression there are broadly two types of players - those who like to progress ASAP into a well organised approach to build that scales and those who play very adhoc. The latter probably care nothing about the changes to artillery and cliff explosives. The former now might go so ...

Re: Artillery needs to be moved back to Nauvis

What's the point really? I'm sorry but importing tungsten is not that much of a hassle. Space platforms are effectively just elaborate trains and tungsten is plentyful on Vulcanus. The crappiest little space platform can passively provide all the tungsten you will ever need.

Actually yeah ...

Re: Artillery needs to be moved back to Nauvis

On my first playthrough, I more or less completely abandoned nauvis. I stuck all my research for all sciences on vulcanus, and only had nauvis produce uranium. I think that could be a viable strategy for such punishing enemy settings as well. You can manufacture the full science set on ...

Can anyone tell me if these demolishers are resistant to the stun effects of the Tesla turrets?

Re: Posibility to take and and add items to the Cargo Bay

I kinda assumed they didn't allow normal chests for various balance reasons but the fact that the cargo bays seem to snap to 2x2 grids and their 4x4 size make them a good challenge to work around while still getting some more use out of them.

Re: Posibility to take and and add items to the Cargo Bay

IMO, it should either be able to be separate from the space platform hub(command center that you can pull from) or be able to pull from the bays. But having to be connected to the hub and not be able to pull from. A potential nice improvement would be to do both, be able to pull and be separate, but ...
