The TLDR is that those percentages effectively mean absolutely nothing (and never will) except that some non-zero number of people have earned them playing the Steam install without using any mods.

From other side of view, base 1.1 Factorio existed for many years, and addons was a way to play something new, while 2.0 is up for just a month. Maybe some years later 2.0 will also require addons to be more exiting.

Yeah, how much have you played pre-SA Factorio ? How much have you played SA, in particular post-rocket ?
Also, you don't exactly explain : what made you keep restarting games (before or after getting to the endgame ?) ?

Of all the many cool new things, one thing that has been occuring to me is how 1) I no longer have much desire to try death worlds, rail worlds, or other alternate game settings, 2) playing with mods no longer interests me, and 3) I'm much more inclined to keep playing the same save than to go start ...

In editor, how do I make aquilo surface freeze like in the game?

I want to create my blueprints in the editor and test some builds, but when I create an Aquilo surface in the editor (vanilla space age, no other mods), it's exactly like aquilo in-game but nothing freezes, so I cannot be sure I have placed heat pipes. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I kind of get what the numbers say, but I do not understand how this will benefit me and embiggen my factories? Does it translate into larger amounts of ore or just even out the numbers? Or does it allow me to target more of a specific ore?

Will the rockets pull from buffer chests to fill a request?

Or only from passive provider and storage?

In other words, will materials in a buffer chest safely stay there for that planet instead of being taken away? Requester chests will not pull from buffer chests unless you tick the box ...
