What about removing it automatically?
Like when at the refuel stop that puts in solid fuel just remove every wood and coal fuel (use filters on inserters)?
If you configure the interrupt well you even get a fleetwide fuel update with every train coming in to switch fuel.
That's what I do too ...

I noticed the same thing. With the last 1. version, the robots distributed more evenly.
Now, with 2.0.12, they start to wait at a few ports to recharge and the number of available bots decreases, decreasing resource throughput.
Adding more ports helps, but should not be the final solution.
