Re: GitLab support
Setting back the field of computing by anti-competitive practices should be enough for reasonable distaste of a company, and it's just an example of why Microsoft could be avoided anyway.

Re: GitLab support
Microsoft being a convicted monopolist should be enough.

Re: GitLab support
It being owned by Microsoft is one reason; GitLab being a better open-source citizen is another.

Mod descriptions should be defined in README.md
Mod descriptions should work the same way as GitHub and other similar repos: they should be defined by a README.md file at the root of the mod directory. It would be a small change, particularly because the format for the descriptions is already Markdown, but would have the following significant ben...

Re: LuaEntity::play_sound()
The base entities have sounds for specific events like being opened, mined, dying, working, etc. If a use case doesn't fit those events (like for the mod I linked to), then I don't see how it could be done, at least in a simple way without creating a dummy entity and moving it with the character. Th...

Looking for examples of adding icons on top of player characters or enemies
I'd like to add icons on top of the things that move, but their definitions are somewhat complex, so it'd be very useful to have an example of how it could be done.

Re: LuaEntity::play_sound()
An example use case for adding a sound to entity would be this mod.
The LuaSound API idea sounds good. The current sound APIs are very limiting, so it'd be nice to have this issue revisited.

GitLab support
There's reasons to avoid using GitHub, and GitLab is a decent alternative, so it should be supported as well.

[MOD 0.18] Emojitorio
Emojitorio in the mod portal.
Factorio with many item and equipment icons replaced by Unicode emojis, and the names updated accordingly. The result is predictably awful.

Re: Friday Facts #339 - Beacon HR + Redesign process
Sorry for the "me too" comment, but I just want to reiterate that it's always been unfortunate that the reward for reaching late game is that optimized designs must become messier/busier and visually dominated by beacons. The updated graphic is interesting on its own, but just exacerbates ...
