I tried the pole, still no power?

okay, so i just need to add a power line next to the steam engine?

I tried that, it only shows the no power icon on the steam engine, no matter how i set it up?

I have been playing for almost 10 minutes now, and i really need energy... How do i create it without solar energy(because its a research, and i cant research without electricity)?
