Re: Suggestion - Late game power generation
Wind would be also a good idea for relocating the pollution effects. With wind, pollution could drift off - so if the wind blows in a direction that is away from the aliens, they could feel less effects from the pollution through the player, if it blows in their direction, it would worsen the pollut...

Re: Suggestion - Late game power generation
Gas Turbines commonly don't require water cooling. Also their 0 to full load time is extremely short (2-3 mins from 0 to 20MW). A typical Gas Turbine is just a modified airplane Jet Engine with a generator attached (often via air coupling). Quick load changes are the tricky bit with gas turbines bec...

Re: More realistic Oil Production - Use of Separators
Gas is already in the game. You use it to make plastics. I keep forgetting that since there is another mismatch. Petroleum in its original meaning is just crude oil. Now it also refers to the summary of all fractions that can be produced in a refinery. Gases are: methane, ethane, propane and butane...

Re: More realistic Oil Production - Use of Separators
IMO, separators should be fairly easy to craft: Some Steel beams, Pipes, and Iron plates and that's it. Maybe along: 2 Steel Beams (supporting structure of the separator), 2 Pipes (maybe 4 Pipes if I consider 1 Multiphase flow input and 3 outputs - gas, water, oil), and 5 Iron plates (for the shell ...

Re: More realistic Oil Production - Use of Separators
While in general, the oil production is modeled pretty accurate, there is one thing that bugs me (but that is not unique to Factorio, it's basically in all games that handle oil production). What other games are you thinking of? Has been quite some time, but as far as I recall, some of the "Ty...

More realistic Oil Production - Use of Separators
While in general, the oil production is modeled pretty accurate, there is one thing that bugs me (but that is not unique to Factorio, it's basically in all games that handle oil production). There is an intermediate step between the oil pumps and the refinery. (Not talking about tanks). This step do...
