Re: Friday Facts #189 - Specifying the 1.0

I guess that this is the tax of having quite a lot of players playing the game, so we just go there and fight these one by one until it is done.
Please don't fight your fellow players!

Re: 0.15 Reactor Ratio

FFS, I figured out why the turbines have that odd 5.8 MW rating. You can feed the heat exchangers with steam from boilers (1.8 MW each) and this simply adds to the 10 MW each heat exchanger normally outputs! The turbines have that odd 5.8 MW rating because it's actually 5.82 MW. The math is as foll...

Re: Intended, or an oversight? (belt sensors)

But you can make two belts facing each other. That way item transfers almost immediately. Have you built this? I tried and the item doesn't seem to move regardless of how I activate or deactivate the two opposing belts. I tested it mentally, and then tried to build. Yep, it doesn't work that way, s...

[0.13.6] Signal placement indicator

Well, the picture explains it quite clearly. There is signal placement indicator where it shouldn't be.

Re: Simple combinator-free safe rail crossing

Edit: Maybe reversing the concept will make safe crossing, by having the rail signal close the gate and making the player run face first into it. It actually works exactly that way. When the signal is red or yellow, player gate closes. So if the train can't stop before the crossing, player gates ge...

Re: 17 combinators = +1 filter slot

Why so complicated? If you just switch filters fast enough, you will be able to unload *almost* at the full throughtput. And the setup will be much smaller, like 4 combinators (constant+decider for clock + 2 deciders for filters)

Re: Differences between smart inserter and filter inserter?

Smart inserter without filters set should be replaced with fast inserter Smart inserter with filters set should be replaced with filter inserter. Ignoring reduced stack size Filter inserter will not operate if no filter is set. Smart inserter could operate without filter if it was controlled by netw...

Simple combinator-free safe rail crossing

With 0.13 release we can now connect gates and signals to the circuit network. In FFF 140 there was shown a way to make safe rail crossing, but there were combinators involved. I've managed to get rid of the combinators. Here is how it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/8w7mD1H.jpg Input rail signal is ...

Re: Friday Facts #138 - Better Circuit Network III

If the splitters wouldn't leave items on non-used side, then it would be possible to make cool train station sorter - connect belt from station to the splitter, then two belts from the splitter to different parts of the storage area. Then just disable one of the belts connected to the splitter so th...
