Re: Crash on resize/maximize (0.14.22)
Closing the Rivatuner server seems to make the difference, thanks! For the record, I use the FPS counter in Geforce Experience as well.

Crash on resize/maximize (0.14.22)
So, no matter when I resize the game, it crashes or otherwise bugs out. While loading, it stops loading. If in-game, I get this message:

Graph all the things!
Over the past few hours in game, I've been sort of wishing for a way to view graphs of several different values. The game itself provides electricity and production stats, of course, but if you want to graph something like the contents of a tank or inventory, you're more or less out of luck. Still ...

Require Enter/focus change to accept new log. request amount
So, raise your hand if this ever happened before: you need to change your request item amount on either yourself or some requester chest from, say, 100 to 200. While typing, you accidentally make it 1200. Now every logistic bot on your hemisphere is already on the way to drown you in items, and ...

Of course it is. You could argue that you're not much of a protagonist, but that you're the villain. Unless you're American.Dll0706 wrote:We are the ones who crashed on their planet and started polluting and taking its resources. We are the aliens, they are the natives. Re: [MOD 0.12.20] Void Chest
Pretty useful, but I can see a kind of potential for... uh, accidents. I'm way out of touch with Factorio modding, but would it be possible to "empty" the chest using a button or something instead of having it happen automatically? Just a suggestion.

Signal lamps!
I just thought about it now. I'm assuming some form of simple logic is intended at some point (AND/OR/NOT gates at least) and it'd be nice if there were a simple way of hooking a colored wire up to something that'll show its status at a glance.
For example, having a warning lamp when supplies are ...

Re: Consumption/Production / Electric Network Info / Power M
I also suggested the bar-from-center. There's a significant flaw that I couldn't figure out, though. Problem is that while the surplus/deficit is a critical piece of information, there's no "obvious" metric to compare it with - so, let's say you have a gigawatt or so in excess of what you're using ...

Re: Consumption/Production / Electric Network Info / Power M
I think your solution works too, Turtle. Still, I think it's simple enough to just rename them Supply and Demand, which is completely clear.
In any case, I think it'd be a good idea to add a very simple visual cue - green if the power supply outweighs the demand, yellow if they're close, red if you ...

You guys are looking at the graph in a way that it is not meant to be looked at that way.
Anyway, here's what I did to make it clear in one blink of an eye:

Re: Filter on furnace input
It would make very little sense to duplicate functionality that's already available. What's the difference between using a filtered furnace and a regular furnace fed by a smart inserter with the same filter?

You could always make it accessible via the web, most browsers are probably a bit better at handling interruptions etc. than home-cooked downloading programs.

Okay. Guess I'm stuck with trying (and probably failing quite badly at :p) getting used to a new key.

Key to open is always used even when no entity is selected
I'm having some trouble with my key bindings. I've played for a bunch of hours in 0.9.8 and never had a problem. Immediately after starting a new game in 0.10, I notice that my character screen won't open. It seems that keys can't be used for more than one thing anymore, which is a serious bummer ...

No, not really. It would be an additional recipe, nobody said anything about removing the current one.Neithy wrote:-1

Re: Friday Facts #37
The 2^x makes sense in minecraft, since making halves of the stacks is very typical user scenario, as you have to manually put those items in the crafting table.
In Factorio, items are used differently, as the manual crafting is automatic, I don't usually work in a way: I take 3X128 Iron plates so ...

Re: Water platforms
Learning some programming is a great idea if you're so inclined, but in this case it won't help much, as factorio's modding system is very limited.
