Re: Linux Mint 22 Wilma, Cinnamon edition: Poor performance at startup, slow Loading Sprites, etc.
There is no combination of hardware that seems to produce a pleasing result with Wilma. That's four different systems (across two CPU generations) with six different GPU options. I think it's now worth testing on the previous version, and possibly another flavor of Linux. I run Factorio on a (any) m...

Re: Game Crash: at Exit / No Impact on Restart
Sorry for the delay. The only thing I have done to narrow it down so far is related to RAM. It only does this on our machines with 96GB. Our machine with 64GB is not impacted. Both 96GB machines have iGPU support as well as OCulink GPUs, but the crash is happening regardless of which is active. The ...

Re: Linux Mint 22 Wilma, Cinnamon edition: Poor performance at startup, slow Loading Sprites, etc.
I tested with v1.1.110 on Wilma - it wasn't much better, certainly not what I would call playable over a good night's session, but nothing like...it was v2.0.8 at the moment. That was dreadful. Testing included a 7480U / 780M and an 8700G for both versions. I also have a 7840HS / 780M running throug...

Re: Linux Mint 22 Wilma, Cinnamon edition: Poor performance at startup, slow Loading Sprites, etc.
Which CPU/GPU? I had very similar problems with Wilma Cinnamon and LDME 6. I am working with the 7840U / 780M, which Linux Mint just does not like no matter how I configure it…but zero issues in Windows on the same platform. That made me think we are dealing with an issue with the kernel or GPU driv...

Game Crash: at Exit / No Impact on Restart
Hello! I have now had three crashes when exiting the game; however, I am running v1.1.110 on a disk volume I want to stay at v1.1.110 indefinitely, as this version and the mods I use have worked well for me (this is essentially my vanilla version of Factorio v1.1). The game reloads without issue, an...

Re: Question re: Purchase Directly from factorio.com
Well I got my key...finally. I had to ditch the credit card and use PayPal. And then I realized why: Humble Bundle uses Stripe as their card processor.
Do yourself a favor: use PayPal.

Re: Factorio Installs - mulltiple versions
I’ve got 1.1.110 and 2.0.8 coexisting without issue on the same OS load. Mods appear to be a whole different story, but not a total surprise. only tested to make sure the game would wake up, but it looks like most of my 1.x maps will not work correctly in 2.X space because some of the mods are not y...

Re: Question re: Purchase Directly from factorio.com
Well that failed! I was able to obtain a new "Factorio" key from HumbleBundle without issue. However, a few minutes later, I tried to purchase the "Space Age" key and it failed four times with four separate credit cards. I was going to seek support - which is apparently only be e...

Question re: Purchase Directly from factorio.com
Hello! I would like to purchase one additional key for Factorio v1.1 (adding to the one I purchased here a few years ago) and then purchase a separate key for Factorio v2. Can that be done here? The goal is to have two active and valid keys for v1.1 and a single active and valid key for v2. Thank yo...

Re: Factorio v1.1 Life after v2.0 Release
I assume the LAN party had a legal embargo / IP embargo attached for those who chose to participate? Maybe even an NDA until release? If not...that would surprise me. I am new here, but only for the purposes of forum activity. As of v1.1.110, I am working on my 75th map, with the previous 72 maps ha...

Re: Factorio v1.1 Life after v2.0 Release
I look forward to trying a different fluid system. That has been a struggle for me on more than one map. And in that context, I ask you this: are we to assume someone like Bob or Angel, or any other user who drastically rewrote the script for v1/v1.1, can't rewrite the script again for v2.0 to bring...

Re: Factorio v1.1 Life after v2.0 Release
Thank you both!
One more question: will v1.1 mods remain available for download, author allowing, of course? I do remember seeing some pre-v1.1 mods available, so I assume the mod database is managed as a historical repository as well as a content repository...

Factorio v1.1 Life after v2.0 Release
Hello! Has a timeline been discussed or released for ongoing support and development of v1.1? I am “all in” for v2 but I expect to continue using v1.1 for some time. At some point, I assume I will have to “download everything I want” before it becomes unavailable due to retirement. Also along those ...

Re: Space Age Expansion: Recommended System Requirements
Thank you very much! We are going to try the Acer laptop first. Not only does it have dual M.2 slots, but the main memory is LPDDR4X and the dGPU uses GDDR6, so I have some options outside of Factorio. The CPU speed may be problematic unless I can control speeds and cores within UEFI, but it's worth...

Space Age Expansion: Recommended System Requirements
Hello! I find myself needing to purchase a new laptop. A majority of its use will be the Space Age expansion running on Linux. It needs to be ultraportable, so I am considering the StarLabs Starbook, which has an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U and up to 64GB of RAM. I am also considering an Acer Swift X with a R...
