I found a potential work around for this issue, if you disable the problematic driver and open the game then while the game is still open re-enable the driver and use the offered solution it should work. edit: I would not suggest using this method because it causes some more problems with the driver...

while launching the game from both steam and downloading it from the site it consistently crashes.
