Re: Friday Facts #425 - Behind the legs

It is really cool stuff overall! I'm so looking forward to the expansion! and really impressed by the continued quality, and thoughtfulness behind the design and implementation of everything. Two minor points: 1. I don't love the new Spidertron animation (even the fixed smooth version), as compared ...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

I'm a big fan of the new enemies. I really like how they differ from the biters both aesthetically and mechanically (as they can travel over walls, and even fire enemies over walls!). It's all very cool. One tiny thing: the animation for the laser targeting the Stomper looks really strange, e.g. at ...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

I would genuinely like to hear your reasoning why an 'arachnophobia mode' would affect other people's play experience. People keep acting like the suggestion, a toggle that disables legs and/or eyes (which admittedly WOULD make the game harder since the Stompers attack with their legs, but at least...

WebMD and NIH. If you're going to tell me that the epidemiologists used by those sources don't actually do research, they just trust self-reporting... I mean, that's some paranoia right there. Yes, psychology generally relies on self reports. Crafting the questionnaires, paying people to take them,...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

As others already pointed out, getting rid of peaceful mode does sound annoying and feels a little like a step back to old alien drops. Other than that I like the design. I am certain they will a) keep peaceful mode and b) keep the option of entirely disabling enemies (and likely allow disabling en...

Re: Friday Facts #424 - Gleba Pentapod Enemies

About 1 in 6 adults have trypophobia; about 3-5% have true arachnophobia. Reducing your market by about 20% seems silly; small developers need to cover their costs, and a low-effort solution to make sure 20% of their population purchase the expansion and don't ask for refunds is just good business....

Re: Friday Facts #380 - Remote view

I have a big problem with the 'instant remote rotate' , working as described in the FFF: ...we realized that making rotation just an instant action might be the way out. It doesn't break the immersion too much and simplifies everything greatly for us and for the player, so we just did that. I think...

Re: Friday Facts #410 - Rocket turret & Target priorities

Will we be able to set a minimum firing range (greater than the minimum turret range), and also limit the firing arc? I'd love to be able to use explosive rocket ammo, and I think without those features there would be too much self damage (e.g., explosive rockets blowing up other turrets and walls)....

Re: Friday Facts #422 - Tesla Turret

Does "must be made on Fulgora" mean that it needs holmium from Fulgora? or that the recipe can only be crafted on Fulgora?
I hope it's the later - as having the recipes only craft-able in certain locations seems really weird (and immersion breaking).

Re: Friday Facts #422 - Tesla Turret

It's interesting the turret is especially useful on Fulgora. According to F398, Fulgora is "a lifeless place" so how is the turret "especially useful if Fulgora is your first planet?" Are there lifeless enemies on Fulgora? E.g., robotic ones?! Or is just that you unlock t...

Re: Friday Facts #422 - Tesla Turret

3. So basically this is "laser turret, only better". Yes, it's harder to craft, but in the end, it occupies the same niche. I thought that was what the quality system is for: "same thing, only better". Huh? How do they occupy the same niche? Different range, different damage amo...

But what does it sound like? The sounds on the Foundry and Electromagnetic plant are so good. I'm curious what the fusion reactor and generators sound like!

Re: Friday Facts #397 - Factoriopedia

Will Factoriopedia show things not yet encountered? My concern is that revealing things too early might a) be overwhelming and b) reduce the sense of discovery.

E.g., if the player has not yet traveled to Fulgora will it detail the enemies on Fulgora? Along with details on Holmium techs, etc...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava

What is the relative value going to be of producing copper cable directly with the Foundry from molten copper, compared to making plates from molten copper, and then converting those plates to cable via the electromagnetic plant? With the electromagnetic plant able to make copper cable too (and get ...

Re: Friday Facts #420 - Fusion Reactor

What is the practical reason preventing having 6 neighbors connected to a central reactor? With all the pass-through connections it looks like such a setup would be possible. Very cool work btw! Hyped as always for the release!! Same problem as with fission reactors: you still need room to feed the...

Re: Friday Facts #420 - Fusion Reactor

Will we get other uses for plasma? I think it'd be awesome to also use plasma for weapons or thrusters! I imagine they'd use the same mechanic of the plasma for power, where the plasma weapons and plasma thrusters need to connect directly to the reactor (or other building with a plasma pass through ...

Re: Friday Facts #420 - Fusion Reactor

Is there a way to send resources to platforms that are in-between planets? E.g., if a platform runs out of fusion power cells, and becomes in-operable (and ceases all flight) then can that platform be saved? Maybe some mechanism for platform to platform resource transfer, so that you could send out ...

Re: Friday Facts #416 - Fluids 2.0

The only "realism" trade-off is that you don't need additional pumps for "really long" pipes. Well, "really long" pipe is a cornercase which can be processed separately. For example, you could limit the size of the segment, starting from the nearest source of fluid, an...

Re: Friday Facts #414 - Spoils of Agriculture

I am concerned about spoilage times restricting how you design your factory. Someone else said people will copy paste an optimized blueprint that minimizes time and I agree with that sentiment. I don't understand this sentiment! Spoilage is designed to restrict factory design on Gleba, and to incen...
