Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, they did not fix the issue.
Not an expert at Mac/graphics at all, but "Initial atlas bitmap size is 4096" looks suspicious in the slow logs, try setting it (max-texture-size) higher, like 16384. It may be helpful to just load ...

After about a year of hiatus, I decided to take another shot at Gleba and see if I can finish the game.
Unfortunately, on my desktop Mac, the loading time of the game is very long, something I don't recall from the past.
The "Loading sprites..." step on the load screen takes about 450 seconds ...

I experienced the same issue.
Just to clarify, here is what happened to me:
Played Factorio 1.x, and reach conditions for "logistic network embargo" achievement. Result: achievement appears in Steam. Achievement appears in Factorio.
Played Factorio 2.x, with Space Age for the first time ...

Yesterday, when I first played Space Age, the game hang for a few minutes (spinning ball), and I had to force quit Factorio.
Sadly, I was not able to reproduce the issue. Not on 2.0.8, not on the newer 2.0.9.
I was able to create a screenshot and collected a spindump report on my Mac.

I can't think of any good use for full belt readers (I would love to see a native belt throughput sensor though! Any many more sensors for that matter).
