Okay now its just getting weird...

I managed to play for about 2 hours without a single hiccup, however the game did freeze when i restarted it to change some mods.

i tried using PROTON_LOG=1 %command% however no logs seem to have been generated for some reason

you could try and attach gdb and get stack traces to see where factorio might be stuck. Might be a similar problem as I have (had (?)) here: https://forums.factorio.com/113899 (need to test and verify that disabling the steam overlay did infact "fix" it). Other issue that might be related...

(linux user) Recently factorio keeps freezing while i've been playing space exploration, with no response until i'm forced to stop it forcefully. i have verified the steam files and the problem persists. I'm running linux mint 21.1 Cinnamon if that helps, i also assume it not to be a hardware issue ...
