Ah, well. Though I couldnt believe I was the first one to notice I really couldnt find anything through the search.

[1.1.80 Windows] Wall texture not updated after destroying cliff
When you place a wall at a cliff you get the "connected" texture at its end. If you then destroy the cliff the texture is not updated.
