Re: Belt v Bot Suggestion:Make them synergize instead of compete

I suspect the main reason people who prefer bots want to stick with them is the ease of effort in setting up new complex manufacturing. People who want to optimize for maximum throughput will end up retooling for whatever is indeed best whether that's belts or bots. By having bots replace inserters ...

Re: Belt v Bot Suggestion:Make them synergize instead of compete

Some alternative Factory Add-On options might be

Inline Feed - causes the factory to stop accepting inserter inputs, but gives it a single belt pass through, picking up what it needs and passing the rest on. This way you trade the ease of bots for simplified multi-threading of production for ...

Re: Belt v Bot Suggestion:Make them synergize instead of compete

To go along with this, maybe instead of Roboports give Factories an Add-On section that you can put a bot module into. This would let you make other add-ons that could go there instead to create alternate choices for factories that already have optimized inserter inputs expanding options for ...

Belt v Bot Suggestion:Make them synergize instead of compete

One approach to solving the Belts vs Bots problem is to simply change what they're competing with.
Instead of competing with Belts, make them replace Inserters.

The easiest way to do this that i can see is instead of tying them to chests, tie them to factories. Give them a certain speed and range ...

Combined these allow for interesting combinations especially with arithmetics, deciders, and lamps

Re: [0.12.29] [Reproducable] Inserters Jamming

NOTE: if you this becomes available, it's probably a good idea to let Smart Inserters choose a production channel for their item type and decision filters.

Re: [0.12.29] [Reproducable] Inserters Jamming

Fair enough, feel free to move this to won't fix until (if) that changes.

In case it comes up, the way I was expecting assemblers to connect was through a control panel device.

Think 16 (0-f) channels, with each having the potential to have an item assigned to them, and assemblers being assigned ...

Re: [0.12.29] [Reproducable] Inserters Jamming

This was predicated on the assumption that your assemblers could be part of the circuit network allowing for adaptive programming of manufacturing bases.

I've gotten far enough to discover this isn't the case. I suppose the assumption is that you will set up a logistics robot network with an ...

[0.12.29] [Reproducable] Inserters Jamming

If you change an assembler recipe while an inserter is moving a material to an assembler, the inserter jams and won't automatically put the wrong material back and has to be manually rotated to clear it.

While this could be argued to be a valid "feature" for basic inserters, Smart inserters should ...
