Vonix and Vonix Eggs recipes are not returning cages, is this on purpose?

I build out a nuclear reactor based on the specs of water to steam output and when I added uranium fuel cell MK01 to the reactor, it comsumed it at a rate of 5 per second instead of the 2 min per cell. Is this right?
