Re: Friday Facts #129 - The late game
I feel like I'm the only one who has an issue with the new smoke visuals. "The motivation for this is to provide some smoke, even when the particle based smoke is turned off in the graphical options" I like playing the game with smoke off, as it gives cleaner visuals and is less distractin...

Re: Friday Facts #107 - The Wedding
Congratulations on the wedding! I think this quote is appropriate for both the occasion and for Factorio in general: "My name is Michael Scott. Webster's Dictionary defines "wedding" as the fusing of two metals with a hot torch. Well, you know something. I think you guys are two metal...

[0.12] Mining drills placing ores on south side of belt only
See picture attached. When placing an underground belt in front of an electric mining drill the ore is placed only on the south side of the belt. As you can see in the pic, the mining drill pointing down is placing the ore on the farthest side of the belt. The drill pointing up is placing the ore co...

Re: Version 0.11.2
Most of Dytech seems to load up and run fine. I was getting an error when trying to load up the Logistic Module (the one that contains the robots). Removing it from the mod directory fixed the problem.
Other mods that appear to work so far: Bob's Ores and Resource Spawner Overhaul.

Re: Friday Facts #58 - It is here
Do mods actually work with the latest update? I disabled all of mine because most of them (like dytech) never work shortly after the release of a new patch.

Reminds me of early MP minecraft. Inventory was not saved when you exited/crashed out of the game and that feature was not implemented for a while.

Re: Whats the hardest setting thats barely beatable?
To add what others have said, play on a desert setting. Not only is it a pain in the arse to find trees for starting fuel, but the lack of trees actually spreads pollution faster.

Re: How active is the forum?
I hang out out /r/factorio over at reddit. There seems to be quite a bit of activity there.
But then again, the forums here are all divided into sections. Whereas over at reddit all types of discussion are in one place.

Re: Nerd³ Apparently In Love with Factorio
Wow, I knew it was only a matter of time before Nerd discovered the game. I have yet to see any youtuber give a bad review of the game... it's that good!
Was anyone surprised that he didn't start off with a mining drill already in his inventory? And that he had to manually craft one?

Re: Few newbie questions.
Great, now i can wire my stuff with colored wires yay! I was wondering why there are colored cables. :D For now, stick with copper cables. The red and green wires are used for a smart logistics network which won't be needed early on. I don't want to confuse you further by explaining how logistics w...

[0.10.5] Game crash when selecting smart instert filter.
Not sure if it's just happening to me. In my current game whenever I try to create a filter for a smart inserter the game crashes if I attempt to change the tab (to production, intermediate products or combat). I included a save of the game this happens for me. After loading the game select one of t...

Re: My new factory's power facility!
There doesn't seem to be enough boilers for that amount of engines, or maybe I counted wrong? Isn't the recommended ratio 1.33 boilers for every 1 engine? I count only 12 boilers providing hot water for 18 steam engines. The setup looks like it should work early on, but once the base consumption get...

Totalbiscuit was talking about Factorio
So I was watching a Hearthstone streamer called Trump on twitch.tv and Totalbiscuit showed up in the chatroom (not a fake, it was the real deal). Someone mentioned Factorio to him and he said " Factorio is in early access, when it comes out, I'll no doubt have a look at it." Then the topic...

Re: Is there a cure?
I'm not sure what it is about this game that keeps me playing it for hours on end. Other games like Anno, Prison Architect, Tropico I'll start to lose interest after an hour or two. With Factorio once I start a game I can't stop.. there's never a point where I go "well, this part is boring, gue...

Re: Friday Facts #39
i like the gates :) but we all use double/tripple walls how it looks with double/tripple gates? This is a good point. Possible solution would be to increase the strength/cost of the walls or perhaps have additional tech levels of superior walls (maybe some sort of powered forcefields or gates that ...

Re: 2^x vs y*10^x
Being a long time minecraft player I was accustomed to seeing stacks of base 2 items in my inventory and chests. However, the change to y*10 isn't a gamebreaker for me. I was more surprised with some of the small graphic changes. I actually liked the old circuit boards graphics and inserter overlays...
