Re: What should I do when I need to play Factorio?
It doesn't have 10% of the content that Factorio has but it has oil and my interest. So far I have 76 hours on Turmoil, where you pump oil and sell it for a profit using some game mechanics I've never seen before. There are pockets of natural gas. They can be tapped to push oil to the surface or the...

I never noticed before
I just noticed this today. I was looking at my nuclear fuel flowing into my reactor on a red belt and when the fuel goes into the red underground belt it turns red. That means the cover of the red underground belt is plastic and not metal even though there is no plastic in the ingredients for red be...

Re: Find another lifeform on the planet who is also
I've got a huge sprawling base right now and haven't noticed any problems with saving. If you want to see it I'm online. The game is Pingman's Trains I think. I'm killing off the biters before I build most of the time. That might help. The biters don't expand into my territory and don't invade excep...

Find another lifeform on the planet who is also
I launched some rockets and got bored so I decided to explore with trains. My reward is lots more biters, more resources and lakes but nothing new and there isn't much to do after you've launched lots of rockets and researched the white sciences. Lets say you launch 50 rockets and you get to communi...

Thanks, I had gone looking for that but couldn't find it. Finally got it to work. I could have used it this morning.

Some things I miss
I miss being able to move train stops in the list of stations that my train is going to visit. I think you used to be able to move the stop and the conditions or just one line of conditions anywhere you wanted. This was especially useful if I set up a train station and then later decided I needed an...

Re: The numbers on fluids
There is something strange going on with pumps. If you have a pipe and three pumps feeding three fluid cars, I think only one pump at a time will turn on. Also if you have multiple pumps feeding one fluid car it will once again only work one pump at a time. I couldn't speed up the filling of my flui...

The numbers on fluids
I've got a big nuclear plant and it vents a lot of steam to the atmosphere so I decided I'd try to put it in storage tanks. I put up about 300 25K storage tanks and they were "full" in about 5 hours. I say "full" because they never fill up 25k out of 25K, but tend to reach 24K ea...

Re: Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
So I can probably leave it in automatic but have to select passenger on board for the previous stop and then the train will be auto but not moving or at a station. A simple off/ on switch for firing artillery would be more convenient. At the same time pandemonium caused by automatic stuff can be &qu...

Re: Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
I think I know why I got that mysterious biter attack that started the whole overloaded electrical system problem. I must have stopped a loaded artillery train car somewhere for longer than I intended and it must have been in range of some distant biters. It opened fire because it was stopped so lon...

Re: Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
... I had just installed a bunch of speed mods and beacons on pumpjacks. ... Before you do that: Have you put productivity modules in your science labs? Rule of thumb: use modules and beacons on the most expensive process in the production chain first -> biggest savings for least additional cost. I...

Re: Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
This plant worked great for more than a week. Lots of fuel, 4 stainless chests of fuel and there is room for spent fuel to exit. I checked each reactor and they all have fresh fuel up to about 6 or 7 and plenty more on the belts that circle the reactors. The number of turbines I had the power chart ...

Re: Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
I picked up lots of steam storage containers and then I picked up steam turbines that weren't producing. After awhile and it was quite a delay, the power went up and my huge number of accumulators filled. Its like 6.7 gigajoules or something, about 500 accumulators. I should have started to add stea...

Nuclear plant brownouts after working fine for weeks
All of a sudden I have a brownout. The nuclear plant was producing about twice as much power as I was using and I hadn't been messing with it. The only thing I did this week was take thousands of spent fuel away and fill up four steel chests with fresh fuel. A few days ago I stopped moving steam fro...

Especially for huge builds, a quick way to check on various factories
You can make tags and for example label a factory with a red circuit on the map. It would be nice if the tag had a button so that you could go to the next red circuit factory and the next after that because if you have a sprawling build you need to check on things quickly. Also would be nice to have...

Re: My desperate attempts to clear land
I made a smaller firebase with no steam backup. Its much more compact. Before I bring the artillery up I look at the map to determine the placement of the firebase. I make sure electricity comes up from the rear. Biters go straight at the firebase so since all the nests are to the east, northeast an...

Re: My desperate attempts to clear land
Turning off the robots would be fine except for they also do repairs on turrets so if I turn off my personal roboport I don't get repairs done unless I do them myself. Too bad the game doesn't let you turn off mine replacement while allowing repairs. Using artillery wagons I managed to take out anot...

Re: Spidertron bounce
I think I know what you're talking about, that sway. Its annoying. Like if you walk your spider over a belt and you want to pick up stuff on the belt it sways all over the place and also its a little hard to tell when you're over the belt.

My desperate attempts to clear land
What I'm looking for is feedback on my various ideas. Would it work? What would go wrong? Is there something better? If I fire at biters with an artillery wagon and then move on after a few rounds will the biters know my new location and chase me over there or will they divert to some nearby human ...

Atomic bomb effects to make biter eradication more interesting
I'd like to be able to blow up an atomic bomb in a lake and create a tsunami that can drown biters over a large area of maybe ten nest complexes. This would work particularly well if you could use landfill to create cliffs. I like using the map and existing terrain for planning. Build a large basin ...
