New at creating a scenario

I ran into some problems when I tried to use the factorio editor on version 16. I placed a bunch of oil resources and pump jacks. I also placed a nuclear plant and steam boilers nearby. The pump jacks pumped, but nothing came out of the oil resources. I'd also filled a chest with crude oil barrels b...

Created a scenario with some oil resources

I was using the editor to create a scenario. I laid down a bunch of oil resources but when I went to play the scenario no oil was being pumped. The jacks were moving up and down, but they did not extract any oil at all. For the longest time I thought they just weren't getting electricity and they we...

Re: I'm out of steam and low on power

Sorry, wrote some of this yesterday.... It worked. I more than doubled my heat exchangers and that took care of it. I think all the steam turbines are running now. I deactivate dozens of steam engines too, to cut down on pollution. I have too much oil though. Seems like it doesn't miss the power fro...

I'm out of steam and low on power

I have four nuclear reactors, all burning nuclear fuel as they have been for several real time days. I had been collecting steam in many tanks from this and shipping it by train across the map to fill more tanks and run power out in the distance. I also have dozens of old fashioned steam engines run...

Re: I've been looking for the next Factorio or Kerbal

Tried Hexells once and to me its just work. I have Opus Magnum, which I think is Zachtronics and its an excellent and beautiful game but as it gets harder I lose interest. Dwarf Fortress is something I looked at once and it would take some work to get into that. I use the easier games to get educate...

I've been looking for the next Factorio or Kerbal

I've got a lot of hours on this game. Hours, not mastery, but I'm a little tired of it after 1700 hours. I tried to give fortresscraft another go and have no idea how to begin and am pretty annoyed with that game. I fiddled around with Railway Empire and don't see what I'm even supposed to do to get...

Re: My tale of woe (train signal problems)

That's an interesting way to look at it. I've made a rail signal test, mostly using one way track, but there is one branch that has one way and two way track and it all works fine. I have lines that merge onto the main loop and I have loops that cross the main loop and all the trains are moving, abo...

Re: My tale of woe (train signal problems)

I didn't want to take up a lot of space so a single track appealed to me and I didn't even really know what two way implied. In my head single track had something to do with one way, but single track requires two way. You've gotta have a loop to do one way track. I think I've got a plan of action no...

My tale of woe (train signal problems)

I have over 100 hours in this game and have developed a rather huge and sprawling megabase on a train world map. I also had about ten train lines that were working, some of them with multiple trains. I started to think I knew what I was doing and then I tried to build another track from an even more...

Re: The ability to change the color of a belt

The coloring of tracks and belts would need to be quick and easily turned off. I often find I'd like to know where a belt is going so I'd like to see the whole path of a certain belt from one quick look. I'd also like this color change to be visible on the map and I'd like the choice of bigger, bol...

Scarecrows that function as landmarks and also to deter biters

When I get a warning that I'm being attacked, I often can't tell where this happening because so many places look like every other place. Huge scarecrows could be used as landmarks to make areas more easily identifiable. I'd like to be able to craft scarecrows like maybe a huge bird that eats insect...

OP, just from looking at the title is it possible that the first letter of your name stands for "Popeye"?

Find your next dead train

My train in the boondocks ran out of fuel, but I got no notification. Some factorio genius with 3 phd's in astrophysics and computer science probably can make a system that would notify me. Call me a casual or a lamer but this type of thing is a little beyond me, so I'd like the option of choosing t...

Re: feedback: train signals are hard

I like the trains, but the switches are quite confusing. Tracks are often long so it can be quite tedious to run the length of them "trying" new things when something doesn't work right. Lately, I've been getting better at it and building a little confidence but then some time will go by and I'll co...

The ability to change the color of a belt

I'd like to be able to change the color of a belt so that I can easily see where it is going. This same thing would be nice with RR tracks and would help greatly in clearing up spaghetti tangles. It would also be nice to label each side of belts with what they're supposed to be carrying such as iron...

Rotate screen so I don't have to eradicate biters downhill

I don't like fighting with laser turrets while going downhill. There's stuff blocking my view on the bottom so I'd like the map to be rotateable. How about if we could build a jet pack with a sensor that automatically detects approaching trains and floats the player at a safe height until the danger...

Re: How old are the players of Factorio

I'm in my sixties. Factorio is my second game with heavy crafting (Terraria). Games don't teach you this, but when you're planning things, its a good idea to put your ideas and needs on paper so that you have a vision of what is needed. That's how people came up with ideas for thousands of years bef...

Re: Doesn't anyone have a kovarex blueprint that doesn't need te

If its not in the blueprint, I'll probably never figure it out, but anyhow, I did finally get my kovarex set up so that it'll run almost forever with no micromanagement. I tried several of the bp's that were posted with some success and then settled on Czarchastic's design. One thing I screwed up a ...
