Standalone it works fine. I think I have found the reason. In both mods technology and items with (technical) name "crusher" are used and only one can be available in the game. I think the best is both mods should use some kind of prefix for their stuff. Like hc_crusher (hc for HardCraftin...

the only problem that i seem to have, is that the 2 recipes for making alien dna, via "alien-dna-from-flesh" and "alien-dna-from-brain", did not seem to unlock. (i think this is because i had already completed the research for Alien Technology - but maybe there is a way to tweak...
