Re: Poll: Loader vs. Heavy-Inserter

Instead of trying to find an inserter that can compete with bots, how about addressing the reason bots are SO good? NO matter what you do with inserters, it takes a finite amount of time for any inserter to perform any single action. Bots don't have this limitation. It takes a bot 0 time to grab fr...

Re: Another point in belts vs bots: inserter stack bonus

It doesn't really matter how fast the assembler gets started, in the long run. As long as you can get the components into the assembler in a shorter time than it takes to make the part, it will run efficiently. You may need to use multiple arms to do that with fast-building items, when pulling off a...

Re: Pump-jacks make way too much pollution

I don't see how this is a balance problem. The intention is obviously that you periodically go find new sources of oil, as with all other resources. The fact that you get that .1/s option at all is a bonus. Just shut them off if the pollution is too much for you.

Re: Pump-jacks make way too much pollution

It's hard to say what the pollution number actually represents in this case, but it's not a big stretch to think that if it requires the same of work to get that oil out of the ground, it would produce the same amount of pollution extracting it.

Re: End game theory and gameplay ideas

I've been thinking that the biggest weakness the game has isn't so much the endgame, but rather the fact that it's the same game every time you restart. I'm perfectly content to launch my rocket and begin again (although a more climatic end condition would be welcome), but there needs to be a reason...

Re: Vehicle speed balancing

It never would have occurred to me to want a faster car. What do you need one for? I mean, are you ever going to be routinely crossing long distances without a rail connection? I'd also say the current transport methods are perfectly balanced against each other right now. It's not all about speed. 1...

What does this have to do with Factorio?
Maybe that's an advanced spambot. First it makes almost-relevant posts to gain legitimacy, then it starts linking to products.

Re: Anyone else think alien artifacts give too much science?

If you want to make purple science more complex, I don't see any need to make blue science simpler. There are lots of potential high-end ingredients, like blue circuits, construction robots, solar panels, etc. This all totally separate from the original issue, of course.

Anyone else think alien artifacts give too much science?

I've only been playing the game for about 70 hours, so take all of this with a grain of salt. I got more than enough artifacts to launch the rocket just using the tank. Driving the tank was great fun and all, but using it exclusively meant I had no reason to research any advanced military techs or i...

It doesn't look like you connected the red wire to the box.

Re: Share your first factory!

I got the game a week or so ago, so it wasn't too hard to scrounge up some screenshots. These are some pictures of my first two factories near or at the end of the game. The difference between them is pretty striking. http://www.imgur.com/a/ELJDq
