I want to make a mod that opens the star map when you zoom out as far as possible in map view.
Is there any way to open the star map through lua?
Alternatively, is there any way to switch to the star map tab when the map view is already open?

You'll see the performance degradation in scenarios where the entrance or exit are placed diagonally relative to each other, because trains that could have pathed around the outer edge of the rectangle between both points will attempt to path diagonally instead; and therefore there is more risk ...

If you have a certain amount of trains and in a certainsection of the network a small intersection is no longer sufficient, is it better to replace small intersections with big ones, or to decentralize traffic by adding alternative routes and avoiding base designs with chokepoints that need huge ...

jumping on the idea, in this particular case, size is not only equivalent to footprint, but also ressources/ amount of rails/rail density.
Those other types of ranking, for example thoughput per iron ore, could be meaningful in some cases where ressources are scarce, or when you want to go fast ...

I just thought, we need new metric: throughput/chunk. Some crosses have outstanding throughput, but hell, they are HUGE :roll:

First off, a big thanks to everyone for the tweaks in v4.4, I think it's great! There was some weird behavior in one of my intersections that this patch impacted greatly.

Yep, score = ((set1+set2+set3)/3) * (2/lanes) is the correct formula and it now also says so in the description.

Had this interesting 4-way junction where there is a small bidirectional part. Got the following results from testing it once: 1: 53, 2: 39, 3: 47, s: 46. I call it the Celtic Nope, but I don't even know if this is similar enough to the Celtic Knot.

One note, Compressed Multicross can, I think, be tested with unsafe output. Even though the signals on the output lanes are placed closer than train length apart there are no chain signals there. Additional safe output would only be needed ...
