Re: Friday Facts #381 - Space Platforms
The graphics for the thrusters and their engine plume look amazing. However :D If there is no atmosphere for burner entities then there is no way an engine plume will look like that. Unfortunately rocket plumes in space look kinda boring (*) so most games just omit them. If you keep the plumes you c...

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age
My guess on the engine is fuel and oxidizer. For fuel refinement a different fluid resource is needed. What i most liked about this FFF was: i just watched a space exploration run on youtube so from the start i saw those similarities and line for line reading downwards i more and more wondered "...

... We already do logic like that for construction robots and get complaints about them all the time when people build crazy amounts of things at once. There's no solution so we just leave it as is. I remember that 'nuisance'. The RoboMining mod was a good way to lock your complete bot building pow...

From what I understand it was a perfectly amicable decision, he was happy and relieved, optimistic about new projects for him to work on, and that mostly he feels bad about leaving us at the last minute, but that he decided it was the best for everyone Wow, okay, that paints an entirely different p...

Re: Friday Facts #303 - Under 100 bugs (but still not stable)
Even if you made 6600$ loss (330 games), you probably earned much more from the purchases there, since you seem to be unable to tell where your sales came from. It doesn't work like that, when you get a charge-back there is a fee associated with it. According to a quick google search, Every dollar ...

They are a shady gray area market, so they haven't been shut down. I don't know about how many of the keys are working properly, but A: only SOME keys there are illegitimate, some are legit. Who knows how many of them are which? B: they only get detected a while later, so people might not change th...

Re: Friday Facts #293 - New remnants 2 & 1.0 Marketing plan
I like the idea of a collectors edition. Back in the old days you would get a nice box, printed manuals and sometimes artwork and other stuff with your game. Collectors editions bring back some of that old glory and a bit more. For marketing i really liked the idea of a dev actually playing along th...

Re: Friday Facts #292 - Inching closer to stable
If there's no identifying information, how would they be able to count ? If a multiplayer server is configured to verify the user identity then the game client is connecting to the factorio auth server to get an authentication token. This token is presented to the server, its signature checked and ...

Klonan This last weekend, we had over 500 total crashes reported, which is a slight improvement over the prior weekend's ~650. One thing that makes our progress hard to evaluate is that we don't know how many people are actually playing experimental. Most people play through Steam, and so far we hav...

I experienced the exact same issue, i will try to reproduce it after work.
Basically the game crashed every time i tried to sync-join a vanilla server while my factorio had mods loaded. Syncing and joining a modded server with a vanilla client works flawlessly.

Re: [0.17.7] Every third stack inserter misses items from blue belt
While not a bug it might be reconsidered for balancing as belt thoughput has been increased by 12.5% in 0.17 but inserters did not change. So if a mod/dev should stil read this put it on the list and think about it once the bug reports for 0.17 become longer (my hypothesis about the stability of fac...

Re: [0.17.7] Every third stack inserter misses items from blue belt
This is actually not a bug but more of a side effect. One Tile in Factorio is 32px wide. The transport speed of an express belt is 3px per tick. If you start with an item that is aligned at the border to the next tile so it is exactly 0 pixels away from the next tile it will be 3pixels in at the nex...

... I agree. I have made similar points recently as well (before the holidays). I said that it's been a year or so before the last update of any new features and asked that they release before the holidays (I think I posted around November). Some of my points: +over a month to test internally and f...

I'm not clear on enrichment, this is only reporting, correct? It's not going to start caching the good stuff internally as a "catalyst," so we still have to do the weird tricks to reinsert the catalyst and output that single nice chunk of uranium? Yes, It will still output all the ingredi...

Using blueprintbooks with that shift-stuff is one of the worst factorio features i know. If you really think that it solves anything, grab a bp-book from a mp-save (for my example MRS - Modular Rail System) and try to build something where you need alternating bps (straight, then left, then split of...

I never would have thought cheat engine would have harmed the devs, particularly for single player. Could you add a flag to the crash report if it's involved, maybe just by checking the process list? No. Just plain no. If anything contains my process list or any other information that is not from t...
