Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

Why do people want to persist quickbar pages when starting new game? In current game you have blue belts, electric furnaces and so on. Will you have them when you start a new game? So, whats the purpose of persisting? Or you just want to have e.g. first 3 rows for early game, 3 for mid and rest for ...

Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

Sounds nice. Will it be possible to switch quickbar pages by hotkeys? Or just by mouse-clicking? keys 1 to 0 will pick the item in the slots of the top selected page. Shift + 1 to Shift + 0 will change the the top selected page. I meant the other thing. Imagine I have 2 active quickbar rows. The qu...

Re: [0.16.36]Freeze on Ubuntu when in fullscrean

Seems the problem got solved by installing proprietary nvidia drivers. Thanks.
P.S. It turned out that the problem was not Factorio-specific. The same behaviour was in other games in full-screen mode.

Re: Friday Facts #241 - New player experience

Maybe you can beat the situation with "independent levels" in campaing as like a preparation of a young cosmonaut for future odessey to space? I mean make the campaign levels in terms of training missions, that are happening on Earth before the player got really crashed in space and have to survive ...

[0.16.36] "Enter" keys works twice sometimes

Sometimes when I try to enter (or leave) a vehicle pressing "Enter", it works twice. I mean e.g. I enter and immediately leave the vehicle, or vice versa, leave and immediately enter it. It happens not so often. Haven't ever noticed that in previous versions. The change from my side is that I'm now ...

[0.16.36] Bitters attack rocks sometimes

Today I noticed a huge swarm attacking my outpost. There were some rocks on their way and some of them started to attack them.

Is it OK?

[0.16.36]Freeze on Ubuntu when in fullscrean

Hello. When on default Ubuntu 16.04 LTS if you press ALT (by default) - a some kind of "command input" popup appears. So, when you are in Factorio that global ALT key is still active and besides showing more detailed info ingame - that same command dialog appears (if not in fullscrean). But, it you ...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Nerfing bots is a bad idea. Even one reason is enough: If a player does not want them - he can just not research them. And that is! (BTW, I did so in my last playthrough - completely without bots). On the contrary, having bots in the base is so cool. I was extremely happy when I got to my first logi...

Re: [Rseding91] [16.0] Burner miners not being fed with horizontal inserter

Don't know whether it still matters, but not only horizontal feeding is buggy. My burner inserter does not feed burner drill from south to north.
Also, on the other map (finished since 0.15), I experimented: and everything was ok, either with burner or electric inserters.

Looks amazing :) When I was about 15 yo I rendered my first fractals in VB6.0, though not understanding it fully. Since that time I've just watched some "zoom-in" videos on Youtube.

Re: Kovarex enrichment. Compact automatic setup.

Why do this with combinators? The process can be handled without any and still no excess U-235 will be consumed. Just prime the centrifuge with initial 40 and it will run. http://my.jetscreenshot.com/22923/20170513-zjay-181kb.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwlpcizH8zM Also, there are other ways...

Re: Kovarex w/ feedback loop

I came up to a scheme similar to TS's.

Here is the demo of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwlpcizH8zM

The difference is that U-238 is not recaptured directly. Instead, it outputs to a loopback-belt with throughput-limiter (so it always has space for U-238 to be put there).

Re: Why there is not a full scale in Programmable Speakers?

Or maybe it is possible to expand the scale by modding? It is. Every note of every instrument has it's own sound file stored in data\base\sound\programmable-speaker, and in data\base\prototypes\entity\entities.lua it is defined which sound file corresponds to which instrument/note. Thanks for the r...

[Speaker][Video] My first approach to factorio music

Hello there! Since 0.15 introduced programmable speaker, I decided to give it a try and implemented basically (mono-style) one of my favourite piano songs: Payon Theme from Ragnarok Online. This version of song consists of 284 notes. For each not I used a "ROM" cell: 1 Constant Combinator and 1 Deci...

Why there is not a full scale in Programmable Speakers?

Sorry if this is a wrong thread, but ... The question is: why the notes start from F3? Not C1, nor even C3? I returned back to Factorio because combinators are my favour, and started to play with the speaker. Basically I implemented one of my favourite piano songs, but the short scale stops me from ...

Re: combinator computer MK2

I think minimum game speed is still too fast to debug. There's now a mod that allows you to record all signals tick-by-tick into an CSV file. That's handy for debugging very complicated stuff like CPUs. If we could clock our circuits manually then it would be easy to build some debugging tools, lik...

Re: Resource depletion detector

Yes, but the "integrator" method (with "hold" signal) amounts to the same. It reports how many units have been on the belt tile ON AVERAGE over a period of ticks. You don't need to know the count of the items, because they all need to pass through that one belt tile that you're monitoring. If you k...
