Re: Friday Facts #430 - Drowning in Fluids

I don't understand the initial state in the first video in the "Pipeline extents" section. Why is the pipe section not flowing despite having a powered pump right there on the right ?

Re: Friday Facts #320 - Color correction

Woah, really not sure about this one.

That dark rusty desaturated vibe is a very important part of the game, the Fallout 1/2 look is really a very appealing part of the game for me.

Tuning that down to something more colorful and luminous sounds very... debatable.

The new night is far too blue ...

Re: Nuclear power OP

I'm currently playing my first map with nuclear power, after 120 hours of play with 0.13.x version.

While I really like the fact that the setup is less basic than for solar panels or fossil fuel, and needs a lot of attention before being fully autonomous, I think U-235 is far too abundant.

It is ...

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

I did try this setup and it works perfectly, thanks for the tip !

It did not work on first try though, because the inserters extracting the used fuel were in "pulse" read mode instead of "hold".

Efficient nuclear power for a long time from now on :D

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

what I understood is that the depleted fuel inserter will work on power demand (ie accumulators below 5% in my case, or steam condition on a smaller buffer)

new fuel inserter will work on condition that the depleted inserter is holding something, thus working only for the time of one movement, and ...

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

Is there a way to prevent inserters from inserting more fuel in a reactor (or any other fuel consuming object, but I'm trying this with nuclear reactor) than needed to just keep it running ? Only insert one Fuel when the reactor is completely out or fuel, or only keep a buffer of 1 fuel max.

I'm ...

Re: Train World Preset : stone almost inexistant

I checked the options with the map exchange string and everything is set correctly according to Rail World, so I guess it's just very bad luck.

Anyway, I started a new game with RSO as the rail world preset was not to my taste.

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

Thank you, I started a game with defaut RSO settings except for oil in starting area, and no sign of any ore in radar range, thats what I was looking for.

Thanks, I'll install it then.
Do the default RSO settings already make ressources further away than vanilla Rail World, or do I have to tweak it to achieve this ?

Re: Train World Preset : stone almost inexistant

thank you, I will check this asap to understand if I messed with the generator options or if I'm simply so unlucky that uranium is ten times more abundant than stone on my map :p

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

Hi,

is it possible to increase the rarity of ressources more that it is in the Rail World preset ?

I think they are still too frequent and close to the starting area to really justify having a heavy train network.

If it is not possible via the vanilla settings, is RSO still the mod to get to ...

Train World Preset : stone almost inexistant

Hi,

after a long break, I started a new game with "train world" preset and one single mod, "longer days and nights"

map generation seems ok, except for stone : it is almost non-existent.

I had a standard very small patch in the starting area, but then, exploring farther, it appears that stone ...

Is RSO still needed?

Hi,

I played like crazy when the game was in 0.12, and RSO was needed to give a real reason to use train (other than simply enjoying it, of course), as the resources were close to each other.

I think I read about newer versions changing a lot about resource and map generation. So right now, is RSO ...

I really love the very dark theme of factorio. It reminds me of fallout 1 & 2, and it feels scary to me because of that.

Re: Turret comparison

Do gun turrets have enough range to defeat the biggest spitters? I would like to play without laser turrets but the range seems to be a problem!
