Hey, there seems to be an incompatibilty between this mod and Rail Tanker - Liquid transport. I cannot load my savegame when both are active at the same time.
I would love to haul lots of oil and strike stuffs with blasts right out of the sky at the same time.

And get rid of the burner drills and injectors. You can build a power plant pretty early. I had problems with the train with two engines, too. I'm not sure whether I rebuilt the train stop, but I circumvented the issue with the heading by building big loops at the stations.

Indeed. The game rewards trial and error. My issue were the lasers. They do a lot of damage on long range, but their rate of fire in those small numbers cannot compete with the gun turrets which fire faster and don't devastate my own economy.
