Reverted to 1.1.21 and the issue is resolved.

I just loaded from an earlier autosave and it happened again, but later.

About 10 seconds after loading the game hangs. Happened three times in a row. The third time my only input after loading was to zoom out a little with the mousewheel. An artillery shell flies overhead, and biters attack from the south, and it freezes.
