When placing poles and underground belts/pipes with the normal cursor, you can easily place them at max spacing by holding down the mouse button and running (or by moving the cursor). Underground belts/pipes will also be rotated correctly.
The ghost cursor on the other hand places a ghost of the ...

Cheers. (Apparently I should've searched for just "checkbox" and not "checkbox click")Bilka wrote:54678

[0.16] Checkbox no longer trigger on_gui_click?
It seems like event on_gui_click isn't triggered in 0.16 when I click on checkboxes in my mod. I was unable to find anything in the patch notes regarding changes to on_gui_click nor checkboxes. Clicking buttons still trigger on_gui_click.
Anyone know if this is an intended change?

There's another issue related to underground belts and compressing output (forum bug report). Can you check if this issue persist in the optimized belts branch?Harkonnen wrote:Thanks for report, but in optimized-belts branch (coming 0.16) this problem is gone

Saw your post on reddit, great video. I have a ton of comments for you, I'll see if I can give you a proper response there

Re: Localization issues ("Unknown key") with 0.15
I'm having the same problem. My locale paths are identical to base, no idea what changed.
I see you made a couple mods. If you could link to one where you're experiencing this issue, then we can compare with auto research ( source ) and see if there's a pattern to what's causing it. As I mentioned ...

Localization issues ("Unknown key") with 0.15
Posting in this forum as I'm currently only interested to hear if anyone else are experiencing the same issue.
My mod (auto research) which works fine in 0.14 ends up with "Unknown key" for all localization strings in 0.15.1, and I've so far been unable to figure out why. This happens when the only ...

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
Congratulations to Yoyo, well done!
Could you upload a picture of your glider (of all the unique segments)? I won't be able to try it out myself the next few days and I'm curious how it looks.

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
The one thing I learned from all this: Bots are SOOOOOO annoying. I don't want to deal with them at this level of detail ever again. I like inserters and belts better, they are fully deterministic at least.

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
Nope, I already used the 1-combinator trick. :) Sadly, even a perfect 2-part design is not enough to win.
How about deployer chests, are you using two of those? I think it's possible to both construct and deconstruct using the same deployer chest (I thought about this before the 1-combinator trick ...

Darn, hadn't any time to improve my glider anymore.... my latest design(not submitted) was still 0.3m/s slower in daytime than canidae's final score

My glider is 10x4 at start
That's HUGE!
Mine is 6x4 at start. Size doesn't matter!
And yes, it's a fine balancing between speed and reliability. I have one trick to make it pretty much 100% reliable, but that reduce speed with about 7-8%.
I kinda hope there will be arranged a new contest where the ...

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
The glider should run for a certain time before scoring starts, this to eliminate any bonus the glider may gain by the initial setup.
I think I understand canidae's evil setup plan.

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
Regarding scoring:
I've noticed that my glider can end up with a significant variation in score depending on where I place the glider in the grid (shown when you pause the game). The grid is divided into 32x32 chunks (thicker lines), and when I place the glider so its leftmost and bottommost ...

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
Also, damnit Yoyo.
:D
There's still plenty of time though. I'm not sure I even want to try improve mine further. Bots are such a pain to control. >_>
If someone manage to micromanage the bots to barely beat your score I doubt you'll manage to ignore it for more than a minute, two at most

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
I was on the brink of making a mod that reads (discovered) terrain, I think such a mod could be quite useful in combination with ConMan. Simply input X & Y into an entity, entity outputs signals telling you what's on the given tile. If such a mod exists, let me know what it's called, if it doesn't ...

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
A note about ConMan: it uses absolute coordinates instead of relative. Using it in a glider requires you to track and update the coordinates, which probably outweighs any benefits it could give.
I also experienced it crashing with lua errors. You'll likely need more entities to use ConMan, so ...

Re: Challenge: Build the fastest glider (and win something!)
Fascinating idea. I'm really looking forward to see the other solutions.
Idea: If there's enough entrants for a prize to be given out, could the prize optionally be be a small donation to a good cause (animal shelters, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, etc.)?
