Just a quick update for anyone still interested in this - though the resonance is surprisingly low.
I would have expected more people to be annoyed by the cluttered modding UI, but I guess I was wrong on that assumption.
Anyways, version 1.0.2 was just released and now supports a total of 497 mods ...

Re: How to force mod update ?
As far as I know, there is no way to do this but I could very well be wrong with my limited knowledge.
I want to bring in a suggestion at this point though, since I have noticed that, while a lot of people do download newer versions of my mod, I think that's mostly people newly discovering it on the ...

Re: How do I get started with using the API
Well, first of all, since I don't know about your general programming knowledge, or especially knowledge of LUA, I would say, definitely see that you understand the language before you go any further.
I personally think this site is the easiest to get started: http://tylerneylon.com/a/learn-lua ...

Re: [MOD 0.13] Zythum - Clean crafting UI with ANY mod!
Thanks for the feedback. I have brightened up some of the icons in order to make the overall UI appearance more balanced.
I have indexed a lot of mods, most notably bob's and 5dim's modpacks, as well as a total of 404 /of all 512 mods.
Version 1.0.0 is now available for download on the mod portal ...

Re: Friday Facts #125 - Achievements
The problem with organizing the tech tree mainly is it being still mod-compatible. I mean, Factorio's tech tree is messy enough as it is, but when you add mods, the dependencies would be a wild mess.
I think to solve this problem, we would have to look at what we use a tech tree for. I for one, want ...

Re: Constant Desync on Join (increasing map size)
Thanks a lot Fug1t1v3 and Loewchen, removing Misanthrope mode actually seemed to fix the issue.
An older version of the map works with just updating Misanthrope to 0.2.2, the current version of the map does not though.
I will report that to the respective mod author, at least the basic desyncs from ...

Re: Wooden buildings / structures
I think wood in Vanilla Factorio is way too useless.
I have played multiple games in Vanilla and almost always found wood an annoying thing that stands in the way. - The trees it comes from at least.
I don't think using wood as a material for buildings or structures is a good idea, since those will ...

Ah, I see. I uploaded the copy of an example of me trying to connect to the server running externally and getting the desync issue to dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/91ls44mugc9z0ek/desync-report-2016-02-07-12-46-23.zip?dl=0

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I attached a version of the debug log in the post above, but here's a link to another desync log from trying to connect in the same setup: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4c2d2fg9yls5od1/log.txt?dl=0

Constant Desync on Join (increasing map size)
So, I've been playing factorio for a while and the multiplayer has mostly been running fine. However, lately, we've been playing with the "shadows combopack" modpack and kept runnining into this very annoying issue.
When we started the game, it worked all fine, but with increasing map size, at some ...
