You only mention using laser turrets. The advantage of laser turrets is the simple infrastructure, but if you're already hauling a train around there's not much reason not to slap on a wagon full of uranium ammo and a wagon full of flamethrower feed. If you don't want to use the highly effective tools the game provides to you for the express purpose of the thing you desire, you shouldn't be complaining about the difficulty of the thing you desire. You are doing it wrong.

Yes, that's called artillery. If it's not fast enough for you, bring more artillery or research more shooting speed. If it doesn't clear enough space, research more range.

Infinite research being infinite, there is a 100% guarantee that you'll need to get arbitrarily far to get enough resource before you've seen the end of it. For that, an unlimited amount of biter nests will have to be cleared.

How about railway pathfinder v2.0 that would be deadlock-resistant? Please don't say it would cost many CPU and RAM, because it would work only on small factories (say, until chain signal technology researched :mrgreen:)

Small edit to my first post, forgot a part of the solution was in my mod configuration settings and thus needs to be explicitly stated.

If you do not understand the problem in this thread you can skip it. Now, regarding your "solution". Combinators contraption will not work because the issue is not solvable by sending whatever values of signal into the input. The threshold itself must be different for each item for correct size ...
