With the new 1.1 feature "divide by each", we can simplify multi digit displays.
What is the new feature that allows divide by each?

Re: Logistics Based Omni Smelter

honestly arguing real life logistics vs game logistics is not a real argument and I find it silly. It's academic, that's all. biggerw is actually teaching folks logistics using factorio, that's pretty cool. Your design was interesting but I didn't like having a combinator for every smelter. below i...

well, i don't want to be negative, but i don't think this idea will be implemented - ever.
You and I both, but we can hope something comes along to make it better.

Re: Combinator scalability and maintainability

that's what your suggestion does, too, imo. Fair enough. But this suggestion doesn't alter the mechanics of the game. It will not improve performance of your PC. No new feature would be added that you didn't have before. It would basically package groups of combinators into a single unit and allow ...

Re: Logistics Based Omni Smelter

Sorry but I can´t argree. Have a look in a todays warehouse or a production you will see people working like handling automats. This are not good jobs, but a man is still the most flexible and inexpensive ressource companies have. Sure this is not ok from human point fo view. But companies ... you ...

Re: Combinator scalability and maintainability

Isn't that exactly what vanilla blueprints do except for the "make it physically smaller part"? And isn't that "make it smaller" part exactly what blueprinting a Circutissimo does? So recursion is all that's missing? Recursion is part of it, but it's more about abstracting. It's...

Re: Modular Omni Smelter Oven

I noticed you have a side of the belt balancer after the area marked 'logic to detect stops of the transport belt'. You may want to consider another version which uses items from both sides of the input of the balancer. Both balancers do the same job on the output side, but are different on the inpu...

Re: Logistics Based Omni Smelter

Hi I recently joined the forum und read all the nice stuff. The omni smelter problem seems to be very useful. There are some solutions. I don´t uase the robots, because that is not realisitc in todays logistics. I think everything can be done using combinators. I posted my omni smelter https://foru...

Re: spider logistic company

From the sounds of it Kovarex intends to add a logistics tab to the spidertron, the reddit is here. In my mind that is a whole lot easier than inserters. Wonder if there will be an option to make the spidertron act like a buffer chest? :D

Re: Combinator scalability and maintainability

There is another discussion on a similar topic, could offer some interesting options that will solve at least some of the problems stated: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=79407 especially this mod which was mentioned in there: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/fcpu fCPU fundamentall...

Logistics Based Omni Smelter

A friend and I created a simple logistics based omni smelter design and wanted to share with folks. It uses simple combinator logic to avoid stalling the furnace when there are less raw materials in the furnace than needed to produce an output. For example, if there are 4 Iron Plate in a furnace, th...

Re: Combinator scalability and maintainability

I think combinators are a powerful, deep addition to Factorio that have ignored for a very long; it's time for some love. Also it would be incredible if there was a combinator that used the red and green wires as separate operands, red divided by green or red % green, could you imagine the possibil...

Combinator scalability and maintainability

Problem: Combinator creations are large and difficult to maintain, discerning functionality is arduous when revisiting their design at a later time. Suggestion: Break combinators into functional groups, a bit like functions or classes in software. I LOVE Factorio, I have been playing for nearly 5 ye...
