I'm sitting in the office on Sunday midnight. Waiting for Space Age to release, so I can do some...erm... "work" ;)
Go have some sleep. It's still 11 hours before the release. You need to be fresh.

WHERE'S MY GAME!!!!11111
People generally do not sit in the offices on sunday midnight.

That being said, it seems that they just uploaded v2.0.7 of the game. So I guess somebody does sit in the office on sunday midnight. Talk about dedication...

Re: Space Age - running a server?

This is also how the pterodactyl/pelican script does it. Checks if the savefile exists, and runs

Code: Select all

--create
if it doesn't. I guess there should be a switch in

Code: Select all

map-gen-settings.json
. At least that's how I would implement it :)

Re: Space Age - running a server?

The game will be available on Linux on release, in both regular and headless versions. The freely distributed headless version will come with Space Age support. Does it mean that there won't be a separate server binary for space age hosting? How do you switch the game between "vanilla" an...

Still hoping that the linux-headless package of space age will be available during the weekend. Would be a shame to spend monday fighting with the docker.

Re: Release preperations

The embargo was lifted on 12:00 UTC. My guess it'll be the same for the release.

Space Age dedicated server release date.

So the release date for the expansion is 21st, which is monday. Please, consider releasing the dedicated server package in advance. It would be nice to solve all the hosting issues during the weekend, so that on monday after work I could start right away (not everybody took a vacation for this occas...

Re: Friday Facts #432 - Aquilo

I know this might be a bit nitpicky and I also know that it is just a game, but... am I the only one that gets thrown off that the railgun has a cratridge that gets ejected? I mean the basic principle of a Railgun is to take basically a metal spear and yeet it forward using magnets (I will let myse...

Why the railguns are shooting backwards in space? The asteroids are not usually catching up with the platforms from behind.

Re: Friday Facts #432 - Aquilo

The modders would be thrilled: now they need to add a snow layer to all the custom sprites to be compatible with the expansion.

Re: Friday Facts #431 - Gleba & Captivity

Personally I'm worried that video thumbnails and titles will give away too much. Well, just like I said, if any sort of media can be spoiled by a single phrase "the butler did it" that probably means it was worthless to begin with. The main attraction of factorio is not to discover what k...

Re: Friday Facts #431 - Gleba & Captivity

Over all I am honestly surprised that this does not seem to be a concern for more people. Why should it be? If a game can be permanently spoiled by a single screenshot - that would be quite a shitty game. And if you can't resist watching a 24-hour marathon for a week, it's kinda on you. The fact th...

bacteria in biochamber can't just make iron and copper elements out of thin air and nutrients Depends on the nutrients. If it contains the trace amounts of the element the bacteria can filter it out. Iron bacteria is a real thing, by the way https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron-oxidizing_bacteria it ...

Re: Friday Facts #431 - Gleba & Captivity

Is kinda weird, though, given where coal comes from. And probably oil too since Gleba has marine-like life in the goo and muck (algae and such). Maybe the planet is waaaay too young, around the 40-50 million year age for either to form. It's not a question of the planet age. Earth has a lot of foss...

Biter eggs can be immediately used for improvements to agriculture, crafting Productivity module 3, or because we felt like the Gleba unlocks aren't motivating us enough... A new laboratory Yes, I saw that (obviously), but production modules 3 is not something that is massively used by regular game...

Re: Friday Facts #431 - Gleba & Captivity

Do captured nests still consume pollution? Is it a viable strategy to convert all the surrounding nests to reduce the pollution expansion? What happens to the eggs if they are not collected? Do eggs spoil into hostile biters? Are there other uses for the eggs? It would be a shame if this whole mecha...

Re: Friday Facts #430 - Drowning in Fluids

Nice change. As much as I didn't like the idea of magical pipes that teleport liquids, I understood that it would be rarely noticeable in real gameplay, where your production is either higher than the demand, and you won't notice the "magic" since your pipes will be always full, or lower, ...

Re: Friday Facts #429 - Vulcanus Demolisher Enemies

There have been several mentions that there will be another planet besides (V)ulcanus, (F)ulgora, and (G)leba. That Fourth planet will have another exclusive science pack and will only be reachable once you have all the science backs from Nauvis, as well as V+F+G. They said the fourth planet will b...

Re: Friday Facts #427 - Combat Balancing & Space Age LAN

I was wondering. Just a month and a half has left, not many FFFs before the release, but we never saw anything about this little guy. https://cdn.factorio.com/assets/img/blog/fff-367-concept-art.png What's his story? Did he not make it past the prototyping stage, or is he going to be our secret fina...
