Re: Whats the point?

My playing style generally leads me to the goal of launching the rocket. I think this is because I like to have the "You Win" feeling or something like that. qqqqqqqqq.png This is a little misleading to me, as it does imply do this - you've won! But for me this is where Factorio begins, not ends. A...

Re: Friday Facts #331 - 0.18.0 release & Train pathfinder changes

I find it not appropriate to describe Dominik's departure in the way you did it. How else should we handle it? I want to be as transparent and honest with you as I can be. A good manager will never chew out someone in front of others. You chewed Dominik out not only in front of other staff, but the...

Re: Make save game overwrites less dangerous

This is likely a 1-2 liner to correct in the code, not asking for a complete overhaul of the save dialogue. Noticed you used the word likely . So like me, you too don't know the complexities involved. People are looking to be saved from themselves - I wasn't paying attention! I clicked something I ...

It's actually an underwater reef, designed to help coral grow. Who knew Factorio was so ecologically friendly! All this pollution speak is media lies!

Re: [0.18.0] Graphical bug with walls

What might be happening is that the bugs corpses are stopping the construction bots from replacing the wall. I noticed in the past with my base that bots would be hovering over a wall section, but not placing the wall, even though there was a gap there - I assumed this was why (no idea if a bugs bod...

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

I wanted to bring this issue up again. As it's truly a problem for me. I also wanted to get clarification from those familiar with the topic as.. * (pronounced "A-star") is a graph traversal and path search algorithm, which is often used in computer science due to its completeness, optimality, and o...

Re: I'd like to be able to see my corpse on the map.

Here's the issue for me. Having a corpse on the map and giving you a chance to find it to get back your stuff is a nice addition in and of itself. The problem is that when you return to your corpse yet can not for the life of you find it, even though you mark it on the map.. It just leads to frustra...

Corpse Marker

When I die I'll place a marker on the map before I respawn so I know where my body is. Even knowing the rough location of your corpse it is still hard to spot, especially if the area you died in is littered with dead biters, and it's triply hard to find if it happens to be night time and the ground ...

Re: Friday Facts #323 - Animated water

I do enjoy the FFF's where you give us a sneak peak in to how things work under the hood. On first look I thought the new water effect too subtle, but the more I watch the more I started to think it fits, a good compromise between overhead and looks. Looking forward to seeing the new animation at sc...

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

I'd really appreciate some feedback from Wube on this matter. This exact issue has seemingly not come up before (if it's regarding these forums and Koub can't find it..). For me this issue is quite a big problem, I've shown what happens every time I work with track in my factory. The generally low U...

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions

Twinsen, To address your thoughts on blueprints. I understand your reasoning behind wishing to only have blueprints as a MODed feature, allowing (especially a new player) To stamp down a whole factory from a blueprint (I've seen such blueprint books) Defeats the whole point to Factorio. However as a...

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

Thanks for the replies. First point to raise is that I doubt the underlying issue is MOD related as the discerning factor here is whether or not the trains are stopped or started. I did go back and test however. This time using 'mk 1 bots'. A couple of points on this they are bobs - but use vanilla ...

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

I think he means hopping on a train and when it stops at a station you toggle it to manual and hop of. Do some fixing of a problem. Then you hop back on and turn it back to automatic again. I think it would be better to have a temporary stop with "wait 5 seconds and player present". Ahh, understood.

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

The reality of working with trains is not as others have stated here. So I went and made a 3 min video for you all to watch as a case in point. In it I deconstruct a train junction - it is totally isolated. And then rebuild the junction with undo. And then stop all the trains and deconstruct again.....

Re: Working with trains is a pain in the..

Any track laid down has the ups hit, even if I stamped down an 8 lane 4 way totally isolated, the ups would hit, as (I assume) The game still has to know what it connects to? It doesn't know it's isolated. Surgically severing the train path, say the 4 north and south bound routes leading into a T ju...

.. behind! And here's a few ideas I feel would help. I'm torn when in comes to working with trains. On the one hand working out an optimum design that still has a visual appeal or symmetry is such a fun thing to do and iterate on, that I have lost whole night s to designing a single main base offloa...

Re: [0.17.66] Is death world marathon hard enough? (green-build)

Green is the future, for deathworlds and us all. Changing the starting size is a way to add more challenge, very small sized starting areas bring the bugs so much sooner. Dave's point about the desert might not be well known - especially if you're new - add it to the games loading tips! The pollutio...
