[1.0.0] Spidertron shows wrong speed value

Post by Jatsu »

The speed value in the info window when hovering over spidertron does not show 0 km/h when its not moving. Usually something between 0.5 and 1.5 km/h.
On belts the value is even more off as shown in the screenshot.

+ and speed not being 0 makes exoskeleton never idles and use full power even when not moving

If it's walking on belts to stay stabilized, I'd expect that use power, but it didn't seem to use any. Just idling at >0 certainly doesn't seem to draw any power looking at the battery display, either.

I did a rudimentary test of a spidertron idling at 1.1kmh with 6 exoskeletons and one mk1 battery for about 138 in-game hours (sped up >385x normal speed), and it didn't drop. Someone with lua skills to check if there's actually a draw can do a quicker, more authoritative test...but 138 in-game hours seems like a reasonable test.

I did a simple test of letting it stabilize itself along a stretch of express belts and it didn't seem to drain battery then, either.

The 0 speed issue is fixed; the speed on belts is 'fine'; the belt is moving the spider and it's trying to move back and that's the speed you're seeing; it trying to counter-act the belt movement.
