[SOLVED] [0.17.79] "Failed to load local achievement" on startup -- no mods!

Post by LazyLoneLion »

On every start of the game app, there is a message saying :
"Data error:
Failed to load local achievement data. Local achievements might be lost."
Error on the program startup
Error on the program startup

I close it and it works OK, new achievements are recognized, but on the next start it comes up again.

I even reinstalled the game (uninstall + install) -- no use.

I've used "Language: default" setting (it's Ukrainian language, and error was in Ukrainian too) and changed it to English -- no use (error message will be in English now).

I use a Steam game, and I had a "standalone" game before, maybe even run them simultaneously. Maybe the cause of the problem is somewhere here. At this moment all other versions of Factorio are uninstalled/deleted.

At this moment I use no mods in my game.

Can you help me to solve it? I suppose the solution might be simple, like "delete that folder X" or something.

Solved it.
Deleted the folder %AppData%\...\Factorio.

Thanks for the report.
The game should have deleted %AppData%\Factorio\achievements.dat when this happened (the error was caused by the file format being from 0.14 which is not supported in 0.17 anymore).
Fixed for the next release.
