Additional information:
If I disable my integrated graphics card, the game will load, but will run at ~8FPS/60UPS after loading a new game. Also, there seems to be a 1 second input lag. I tried setting as many graphics settings to minimum as possible, but I didn't see any improvement. I tried reverting to 0.16, and everything seems to work fine, even without disabling my integrated graphics card.
Update: Going into device manager and completely disabling my dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 940MX), forcing the system to use the integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 620) seems to fix the issue as well as the performance. Not the nicest fix, but at least the game is playable.

The error 0x8876017c is DDERR_OUTOFVIDEOMEMORY, which according to the documentation is DirectDraw return code, which is suspicious because we don't use DirectDraw as far as I know.
Can you try to disable Discord overlay, and possibly any other gaming overlay you might have?

Save attached config to Factorio_0.17.45\config\config.ini (config folder of the standalone version) and try to run the standalone version again, please.

Thank you, that config fixed it. The stand alone version hadn't even created the folder and I replaced the config in the steam version as well and it worked.
I can attach the config from the steam version if you want it.
