[posila][for 0.17][0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Game crashes after the screen reactivated from energy saving mode.
Reproduce: wait for engergy saving
Workaround: set "time to enter energy saving mode" > "time needed for smoking break"
The bug seems to be related to my monitor setup. Main screen is 2560*1440 with G-Sync enabled via display port, second screen is 1920*1080 via hdmi.
I have problems with other games, too. No crashes, but they appear on the wrong monitor after energy saving.

Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
I assume you mean energy savings mode of the pc and not only monitor: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=22998
Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Nope, only monitor....
Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Any chance you have your screen connected through Display port?
I've seen cheaper display port connected monitors completely disconnect themselves from the PC when they power off resulting in the computer thinking the display was physically disconnected (which doesn't work if you're running Factorio).

If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Display port is correct. Monitor is a ASUS ROG PG279.
I thought G-Sync may be the problem, but tested today with G-Sync deactivated, same crash...

Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Do your windows that were on the displayport display rearrange themselves when returning from energy saving mode? (This includes them moving to the HDMI display).
If this is the case, your display is one of those that effectively disconnects when it goes into power saving mode, and this topic would be filed under either 1/0, Not A Bug, or Won't Fix.

Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
No, a "rearrange" only happens sometimes when the whole PC enters engery saving mode. And in that case all icons/links are on the displayport monitor, not the hdmi.
Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Another test: only the displayport monitor connected
Result: no crash
So the crash seems to be related to the multimonitor setup with different resolutions.

Re: [0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
Thanks for the report and testing.
It will (hopefully) be fixed in 0.17: 51217

Same issue. Two 4k screens (displayport) and one 1080p screen (hdmi) and this happens.
Re: [posila][for 0.17][0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
I have now connected the second monitor via displayport, still different resolutions.
Result: no crash
So indeed the combination displayport+hdmi seems to be the culprit.

Kovarex is nervous when I have too many things on me in Assigned, so I'll move it this to minor issues until 0.16 is stable.
Re: [posila][for 0.17][0.16.5] Crash after screen energy saving mode
I've found a few bug reports related to unplugging. My monitor has gone to sleep before without issue, and I can unplug and plug in a few different combinations with my two monitors (different resolutions), without issue, but I use DVI cables.
Because I've dealt with this crap before, I am wondering if it's somehow related to HDCP handling on the hardware side of things.
I tried an HDMI cable to my tv and DVI to my monitor (both are different resolutions) but had no issue unplugging in different combinations, so maybe it's not necessarily HDCP-related. There are other, old bugs related to unplugging HDMI cables and crashes, in minor issues, however.
If it's any help, I'm on Windows 7 64bit and have an HD5870 graphics card. I wonder if it's some funky HDCP implementation causing problems.

It should be solved in 0.17 for good.
[0.16.51] Crash after power shutdown for monitor
I have a power plug with a switch - to cut off from powersupply my two monitor and some lights around my PC to save energy when I go out or away for 1-2 hours.
It now happened several times about 10 in total that this switching crashes Factorio.
both monitor are connected with Displayport 144Hz Full HD
