[posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
Hey,
I bought the game on steam. After pressing 'run' a window opens for about a second before popping up with an error box reading:
"Unexpected Error occured. If you're running the latest version of the game..."
- I do have the latest version of the game installed
Computer Specs
- MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
- 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5
- 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
- Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB
- No attached mouse or anything (I usually use one but didn't have it plugged in when I ran the game)
- So 4gb RAM and 1536MB VRAM

Re: [posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
Can you try in the recent (experimental version) 0.14.13?
Re: [posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
Just realised this should have gone in tech help.. sorry
I just tried [0.14.13]... Basically here's what happened:
1. Steam declares the game running
2. Black window for half a second
3. Window disappears, no error reports no crash reports ect.
4. Steam shows that the game is no longer running
Hopefully that makes sense, let me know if a video or something would help.

Re: [posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
Dammit ... I tried to fix the crash you had in 0.13.20, and apparently I fixed it so well, it crashes without logging any error.
The original error is related to initialization of some mouse-like hardware. We never figured out which exact hardware causes it ... it might be just specific version of touchpad.
Can you open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and search for errors generated by Factorio?

Hahahaha that sucks.
All of these entries appeared consistently upon running the game.

Re: [posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
As an FYI I tried ticking the "ignore trackpad" setting in System Preferences and the game still crashed.
I don't think this actually disables the trackpad completely..

Re: [posila] Startup Crash - Mac OSX -> Help :)
Thank you for the report and for providing additional information.
I fixed potential crash in the mouse initialization code. The fix will be in 0.14.14 (which will be released either tomorrow or next week)
Previous bug report: 32515
