[0.12.22] [Twinsen] CargoWagon input output inconsistency
Some train configurations allow you to have an inserter that inputs in a different cargowagon than it outputs, I have been able to replicate this, See pictures below.
I have mods but no custom wagons or stations were used here.
Station is placed on the fifth straight rail after the curved rail, used a 2-3-0 and let the train pull up to the station.
Here's a picture of a 2-12-2 with two inserters on the edge of each cargowagon, The chests represent what Item was pulled OUT of the cargo wagon by an inserter and the cargowagon is where the items ended up when INserting.

if you need a savefile/mod folder or anything else then let me know.

Re: [.12.22]CargoWagon input output inconsistency
This is one reason why I think the lengths of vehicles needs to be changed, and needs to be standardised.
The wagons should not only be exactly a certain number of tiles in length (say, 6 tiles long) but should be the same length when vertical as when horizontal.
I know it was done to solve an issue with perspective, but wagons should not shrink simply because they turned a corner.

And when placing stations in both directions the inserters should fit for both directions. This could be related to the length of the vehicle. But station can only be placed per 2 tiles, inserter per 1 tile

I don't understand what you are saying. Can you explain it differently with a clear example?
I don't understand the second image

Train station problem
I've got 2 east-west stations with 7 inserters below the track on both, on the unload station the inserter at the back of the wagon (one loco and one wagon per train) wont unload into the chest (the chest is empty), but if I rotate the inserter to load the train from a full chest it works fine.
[Koub] Merged this topic with older one, because I think they both report the same strange behaviour.

Re: [0.12.22] [Twinsen] CargoWagon input output inconsistency
If I understood correctly, depending on the orientation of the inserters that are supposed to be aligned with the ends of each wagon, the inserters won't always have reversible transfer aka :
Wagon => chest => wagon won't put the items back in the same wagon as they were drawn from.
[Edit] Added the image that I think explains what was expected, and what was obtained.
and yeah the fancyphotoshop paint.net skills are mine, I'm such an artist

Where can I find the save files on my computer?
Re: [0.12.22] [Twinsen] CargoWagon input output inconsistency
If you're on Windows, there should be a saves folder in %APPDATA%\Factorio.

Ok, I managed to reproduce the problem. Working on it
Re: [0.12.22] [Twinsen] CargoWagon input output inconsistency
Fixed for 0.12.27
Let me know if the issue persists.

My problem still happens in 0.12.28 (for some reason my game skipped update 0.12.28).
