[2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
[2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
After my game updated to 2.1.19 my UPS is hovering around 30 and dropping to the 20s. On 2.1.17 I had no issues with maintaining near 60 UPS/FPS at all times. Unfortunately I was distracted when I loaded the game and my autosaves are all now updated to 2.1.19 and the newest 2.1.17 save I have is 12 play hours old, but it plays at 60 UPS no issues. I can revert, but would prefer to not have to blue print all my changes to move back.

Re: [2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
Thanks for the report however I'm not seeing anything in the save that suggests the update caused nay issues. You simply have huge packs of biters coming to attack your Nauvis base and the amount of computation required for all of them to move and attack is taking a lot of time. You can see this in the alerts you've got going on about destroyed buildings.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: [2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
These massive packs were on the way when I last played on 2.1.17 and I was running at 60 UPS. I just tried to power through and see if reducing the hoards would help, but it was dropping to single digit UPS. I've had massive packs for a while on 2.1.17 with no issues.
Re: [2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
They have arrived in the save file which uses even more performance as the turrets start attacking and the biters attack back.
Unfortunately, without the older save I have nothing to compare against to say it would or would t have happened due to the update.

Re: [2.1.19] Much lower UPS after update from 2.1.17
Looking at the profiler, it looks like 60% of time is spent in units calling for help causing units pathfinder to start looking for paths. There was one change released in 2.1.18 which may be a direct cause of this, but that change was about fixing unit groups dispatched to build bases not retaliating to artillery fire, so when all of those groups now start aggroing, you see an increased cpu usage.
-- edit:
Moving back to bug reports because i see when that change is reverted the UPS goes from 40 to 160 on my machine.

Thanks for the report and welcome to the forum,cidue22 wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 8:00 pm After my game updated to 2.1.19 my UPS is hovering around 30 and dropping to the 20s. On 2.1.17 I had no issues with maintaining near 60 UPS/FPS at all times.
This is unfortunately a mistake in a little tweak I did, the artillery reaction groups are not properly ignoring the distraction of their units, so its causing way too many new commands and new pathfind requests,
It is now fixed for the next release
AS for your save, if you turn off your artillery and wait, hopefully once all the existing groups are dealt with, UPS should return to normal

Well I rode it out until those packs were gone and my UPS returned. I guess no bug. Sorry for the extraneous report.
