[Klonan] Less strick clamping on simulation zoom

Post by Stringweasel »

It seems that currently all simulations (tips-and-tricks, and menu-simulations) have their zooms capped. Meaning you cannot zoom out as far. I'm not sure what was the case in Factorio 2.0, but I remember in Factorio 1.1 there was seemingly no cap.

I assume the cap is in place for different reasons, for example 134346, but could there be some other way around that would prevent clamping the zoom?

My use case is I'm updating the Hall of Fame mod where many simulations were quite zoomed out, and very finely created with specific zooms in mind. However, now this is no longer possible, and the player will miss out on all the nice things they could see in the main menu simulation.

This sounds like a tricky thing to fix correctly, and I don't mind if it's just a toggle on the simulation itself that allows unclamped zoom.

Thanks for the report,

I took it as more a bug report, that the simulation clamping was too strict in relation to the desired 'camera zoom',
This should be fixed for the next release, as in the clamping just prevent extreme deviation from the desired zoom, not the absolute value
