What did you do?
I spent too much time trying to figure out why my research was slow even when every lab had the "working status". It turns out it had a tiny bottle neck with white science because the inserter wasnt keeping up. The working status should not have been solid working every tick when the lab was not working every tick.
What happened?
The lab status was "Working" even when the lab was not processing recipes for a couple ticks at very fast lab speed. The inaccurate working status caused me issues. The white science slot in the lab is constantly full with 1 visually even though for at least a few ticks there is not a white science in the lab, causing bottleneck.
What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expect the status to not be constantly "Working" if the lab is bottle necked. I also expect the white science to be missing from the slot if there is a white science bottle neck (which there is).
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
All the time (at least with very very fast crafting speed labs). I have attached a screen shot of my science production after i fixed the bottle neck to prove the bottle neck existed. . Every lab showed constant working status despite not being at full throttle.
The lab above has a white science bottle neck that isnt obvious because the lab is constantly "working" never flashing ingredient missing. The white science icon/slot also always has the white science bottle in it. There isnt any frame that the white science is missing so there could be an additional bug related to that.
Please either make the working display accurate or give the labs a processing speed stat in the description like every other machine has so that I don't have to rely on the working status. I have heard of other people running into the same issue.

Re: Biolab Inaccurate Working Status (2.0.44)
Can you please provide a save file showing the issue?
From looking at the lab, it will show a status of working if it can contribute *any* progress that tick - regardless of it being the "maximum possible this lab could contribute". That is correct in that labs will work if they have all of the pack required and will vary their result depending on how many packs are available. This isn't an error state but simply how labs work.

If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: Biolab Inaccurate Working Status (2.0.44)
If its intended behavior then I shouldn't need to provide a save as it can be replicated in any save. I would appreciate if it could be changed so I can have any indicator of if the lab is working at full throttle or not. I didn't even know a lab could work at partial throttle.

Thanks for the report. Issue is now fixed for 2.0.45.
