When upgrading some of my upcycling blueprints I noticed that converting my Common recyclers to Legendary in blueprints flipped the output slot to a different location then before
Blueprint before using upgrade planner
Blueprint after using upgrade planner
The second one you can notice the recycler is flipped for some reason
I tested the same in an unmodded playthrough with just the base mods enabled and it still works the same way

Re: Recycler flips when using Upgrader Planner in blueprint
Hello. I could not reproduce the described flip. Could you please post a log file and optimally a save or at least the blueprint string and upg planner string?
Re: Recycler flips when using Upgrader Planner in blueprint
The blueprint in this book has a recycler that has been flipped, and applying the upgrade planner puts it back to its default position

Re: Recycler flips when using Upgrader Planner in blueprint
I’ve been thinking I’m going insane with the random orientation flips. It’s not just the recycler though. Here’s some more details to reproduce.
1. What did you do?
Steps taken to reproduce
- Play a game with quality mod enabled (I've reproduced both in my current main save and in a just-created testing scenario with only quality mod enabled)
- Place two buildings that have non-symmetrical inputs and / or outputs. I’ll talk about recycler from here on, but same bug applies to other buildings as well.
- Flip one of the recyclers’ orientation horizontally or vertically. Now there’s one that is flipped and one for reference without the flip
- Create an upgrade planner with recycler from normal to legendary quality
- Take a blueprint of the two recyclers
- In the blueprint creation menu, open the upgrade menu
- Click to upgrade the recyclers with the created quality upgrade planner
- Without saving the blueprint, move the window so you can see the placed recyclers and the upgraded blueprint creation UI side-by-side
2. What happened?
- Quality upgraded recyclers' orientations in the blueprint don’t match the blueprinted recyclers.
- The flipped recycler lost the flip orientation i.e. quality upgrading a blueprint resets flip orientation
3. What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
- Expected the flip orientation to persist after upgrade from normal to legendary on the blueprint upgrade like it persists when upgrading already placed buildings
4. Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
- This seems to happen with all buildings and their recipes where flip orientation matters e.g. recyclers, electromagnetic plant with electrolyser, oil refineries with advanced oil refining, cryo plants with sulfur...
- The quality jump doesn’t matter as the bug seems to reproduce whether it’s Normal —> Legendary, Normal —> Uncommon, or Legendary —> Normal
- Doesn’t reproduce if it’s just a module addition
- When using the same upgrade planner on already placed buildings, it persists the flip orientation correctly.
