1. Quick surface switch:
(I would've written a mod for this but I cannot manage to get the smooth key controls for this working.)
Currently you're required to go into the remote view and click the surface you're looking for to switch your remote view to it. This works fine but as a game I remember for it's well designed shortcuts I was disappointed to learn there is no shortcut for switching between these. This feature should work functionally the same alt+tab in your OS, ctrl+tab in your browser or switching pages in your IDE even. Particularly in Firefox and your OS there are (optional) previews of what you're switching to.
You press the modifier key (could be ctrl by default) and then the action key (could be tab by default) and it opens up this menu. The tab presses overwrite the regular remote view from opening as long as the modifier key is held. Now this menu should show either minimaps or just cameras for previously visited surface at the location you left at before you switched to another surface or backed out of the remote view. It keeps track of the history so you can easily switch back and forth between two planets you're multitasking on without having to pin everything. Once you stop holding the modifier key the menu should disappear again and give control back to how you're expected to. The exact amount of camera "windows" that show up at once could be configured, and everything over this limit could be paginated or scroll one at a time. The shift key could reverse the "tabbing" order and arrow keys should work in conjunction with this system.
Even though this might be quite a large feature request, I personally think this is something people will very quickly pick up, since the inspiration for it is something we use a lot on the daily basis.
2. Quick constant scrolling
I'll admit, this one isn't as strong as the first one but it might be useful to some?
Anway, the suggestion is to allow scrolling on a constant number without needing to click on them. I often find myself needing to click on a constant number, increase it to 1, press e again and repeat this tens of times. This would probably require a modifier key again, suggesting ctrl for this as well. I feel like this is one is very redundant, just a potentially faster variant in niche use cases where you're only setting things to a low number.
3. [space-age] Always show lighting protected areas
I'll admit, I don't know if per planet minimap toggles are a good idea, but putting it behind a debug setting doesn't feel great either. I know the debug setting has been added recently but still I want raise this up. It's literally what it say where it shows the range without the need to hold the item that collects lightning in your cursor.
4. [space-age] Toggle demolisher territory
Another planet specific minimap toggle. This is probably a really bad idea to toggle but there is no way to *not* show the territory from my knowledge. It just feels more obtrusive to look at compared to Nauvis biters which are just red dots. Maybe this ends up better as a debug setting for this reason but this is something I'll leave up for debate I guess.
5. More equipment toggles.
This has probably been suggested to death but I've often found myself unequip my belt immunity equipment in order to gain a speed boost on a belt in addition to exoskeletons. You could go down the entire list of power consuming equipment to toggle but eventually there might be too many of them. These are just ways to manage your power early game, so these might not have been considered for this reason but hey it doesn't hurt to suggest things right?
I would really like consideration for my first suggestion as I couldn't make it work with mods smoothly and could work natively with any mods making use of new surfaces and across categories like planets and platforms that are defined already. If ultimately rejected I think modders would appreciate having access to a more sophisticated way of controlling inputs just like how super force building has modifier keys you can hold.
Lastly, thank you Wube for 2.0 and space age in general!
