Let cargo bays connect to circuit network

Post by ManaUser »

To be clear, I'm only asking for "read contents" mode, and that it return the contents of the entire hub/landing pad it's connected to.

The main reason I want this is so I can both read contents and set requests on a landing pad, by using a cargo bay as an extra access point. So any other solution for that would be great too. But it also just makes sense intuitively to me that you should be able to read contents from there.

I love this. It would clean up the circuitry on my large ships a fair bit, too. +1!

Should also allow inserters to insert items into the cargo bays.

I don't know about that...it seems like it's half as exploitable as just allowing full inserter access. Free item teleportation to a single location. I would definitely have a column of cargo bays running up and down every ship for example.

How would you do that if the only circuit interaction possible is "read contents" ?

You read content from the cargo bay extension and set requests on the primary landing pad hub.

Apologies, I was responding to a comment about allowing inserters to insert into cargo bays, not to the original suggestion. I added a quote to my post to make it clear.

Ah. I never thought about that. Good point.
