[2.0.13] Underground belt deconstructed by bots (or space platform) retains items inside

Post by LCStark »

I have this underground belt:

containing 12 uncommon iron ore. If I deconstruct the end of the belt manually, it works as expected and returns all items from the belt:

However, if that end part is deconstructed by construction robots (or if the belt is on a space platform), they only remove the 2 items on the end part, leaving the items on the rest of the underground belt stuck in limbo:

Rebuilding the end part makes the items continue as the belt was never removed, just moving forward to fill the single removed tile.

Thanks for the report however this is not a bug. Items of the underground transport lines are shared between both ends when they are connected. In order for construction robot to deconstruct one of the ends you must first mark that end to be deconstructed and when underground belt is marked to be deconstructed it disconnects from the other end which makes the underground transport lines no longer shared between ends.

If you mark the output underground to be deconstructed and then mine it, you will get the same outcome as if robot would pick it up.

I see, thank you! That is a bit unexpected behaviour, but I see how it might be required by the engine.

I do still think this might be considered a bug though. When we have that belt with items stuck inside, we can flip it, but only the few items stored on that tile actually come out, the rest gets stuck inside until the belt is removed. If it isn't, the items get stuck there forever, even if the belt is rebuilt:

I think the expected behaviour here would be to have the items all come out when the belt is flipped, and if the engine doesn't allow for that to happen then at least they should come out when the start of the belt is built.
