When I build a new platform and set a schedule in it (for example I just add Vulcanus in the schedule with no conditions) and then start loading items in the hub (for example asteroid chunks from a collector) and there is an unfulfilled request on the planet in the landing pad, the platform doesn't drop the items if no events occur in the schedule (for example there is no thruster so it doesn't start to go to Vulcanus or the schedule is paused)

As soon something happens in the schedule (for example I remove Vulcanus form it or switch from paused to automatic) the dropping starts.

Some delays in dropping cargo might be due to

However, what seems to be happening is platform's current orbit not matching the schedule's stop, and this matching determines whether the platform is allowed to drop stuff.
That is, a platform only drops stuff if current stop's Unload is checked (and matches the orbit).
A first schedule entry of Vulcanus allows it to drop stuff to Vulcanus, but not to Nauvis (where I assume it's at).

Similar no-cargo-dropping happens if the only schedule entry is Nauvis with Unload disabled. The platform won't drop anything.
As soon as I allow unloading, cargo starts dropping, regardless of automatic/paused thrust.

I'm guessing your changes to schedule, after which you observe cargo starting to drop, happened to align with these rules.

Alright you got it, this really seems to be the cause! When I create the platform with Nauvis being first in the paused schedule the dropping works immediately. It seems the platform indeed thinks it's in the wrong orbit when it's created with a different planet being first in the schedule even though the schedule has been always paused and the platform never left the planet it was created at. Unfortunately the platform doesn't say why it's not dropping anything, nor does it indicate which planet it thinks it is on, nor what it thinks the current schedule stop is, so the user has no idea what's wrong
