Summary:
Changing destination on a train in automatic mode causes an instant stop.
When you do this in transit during high speeds, attached wagons will crash into the engine, causing damage to the cargo wagon. This only happens with modded high-speed trains, base ones are not fast enough.
What I'm trying to do:
Change destination of a train in automatic mode during transit
What I expected to happen:
The train changes destinations and if necessary slows down as fast as normally possible.
What happened instead:
The train comes to an instant standstill, then accelerates normally toward the new destination.
Additional information:
Tested with mk3 engines from Bob's Logistics and base game engines. Instant deceleration occurs always, trains crashing into parts of themselves only happens with modded, faster trains.
edit: Oh, yeah. Instant deceleration also happens when the new destination is the same as the previous one. I'd have expected the train to just keep going.

I am also getting this same damage but with no mods that change trains, and when driving by hand.
