Hello Factorio developers,
I believe chain signals are supposed to be rather strict, only permitting pass of a train until the next "normal" signal on the path of the train turns green.
There is a situation though, where a chain signal permits a train to crash into the cars of another train.
I rebuild the situation using only base and test mode and saved the game a second before a train crash.

System used is: A Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca using 3.13.0-37-generic kernel on a x86-64 machine.
Thanks a lot for such a great game.

[0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
providing instructions would be easyer
no yes yes no yes no yes yes
Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
If it takes more than 5 sentences to describe how to reconstruct the issue he totally did the right thing.kinnom wrote:providing instructions would be easyer
And, if he already says "in rare cases" I think everybody's happy with a minimal-case savegame
Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
It took at least an hour to reproduce this.
Especially getting the timing right, saving just before the crash.
Maybe someone can deduce a simpler example from this one.

Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
Would you happen to have an earlier save?
Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
You could do it yourself. Just replay and save at the designated position. I did it and saved just after the newest train was added.

Thank you very much gheift,
i tried replay, but somehow it crashed after some (short) time. (Different bug...not to discuss here)

I had the same problem, luckily it didn't happen everytime: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =7&t=18056Julianus wrote:Thank you very much gheift,

Re: [0.12.19] [Martin] Chain Signal not preventing crash in rare cases
Adding to the original topic: It seems that the normal signal has the same fault in some cases. I replaced the signal in question...and there is still a chance of a train crash.

Thanks for the report, this will be fixed in the next version.
